We purchased a used 2007 Jeep Wrangler X from Crown Cadillac. We went there based upon their rating at this site and the price of the vehcile we were looking for. The salesman, Andy, touted the "great" condition of the car, and gave us a Carfax which stated "Engine/powertrain computer/module checked" by them. We test drove the car and it seemed in good shape. Until we drove it home! By the next day it was making a loud tapping sound. It was hard to notice at first unless you stood outside the car while someone lightly revved the engine, but over the course of the next day it got much louder. We drove it to our mechanic of 20 years who said: it needed a new engine. So we went right back to the dealer with the car, tapping all the way. I knew that the Lemon Law warranty period is very brief so I wanted to get it taken care of right away. Their service manager, Mauro, agreed to look at the car. An hour later he told us there was nothing wrong with the car, that it was not making any noise and to "go ahead, try it." Sure enough the tapping could not be heard. I called my mechanic to ask if it was possible that there was actually not a problem and he emphatically said no, and explained that they could have put an additive in the engine that would temporarily quiet the sound. He suggested I drive it for while and have them look at it again when the noise reappeared. I told Mauro that I wanted to drive the vehicle around for an hour or so and then have them look at it again, but he absolutely refused, feigning insult that I would even think they might put something in the engine. (You've heard the saying "He doth protest too much"?? He said the car had no problem and to just take the car home. But I refused to drive the car back home. I was sure they wanted me to go over that 1000 mile warranty period. Even worse, I (a woman) might get stranded on the highway 75 miles from home. I went back to the sales manager, Luis, and told him what was going on and that I did not feel safe driving the car. Funny thing, when I told him I wanted to drive the car for a while and then have it looked at again in case there was something masking the noise he said "If they put something in the engine it would quiet the car for a few days." Hmmm... I told him that since my mechanic said the engine was bad, and their service manager said it was fine, that we needed another opinion. Luis agreed to pay to have a Jeep dealership of my choice look at the car for a diagnosis. I found one four miles away and arranged to drop the car off after hours there, but was quite upset that I had to call for someone to come 75 miles to pick me up because Crown did not have a loaner car for me to drive home in as the "woman with the loaner car keys had just left." I had been at the dealership for over two hours -- they should have made sure I had a laoner car before she left. Instead I sat alone at the Jeep Dealer for almost two hours waiting for my ride. The next day the Jeep dealer's service department found that it indeed had a bad engine - the noise was coming from internal enigne rod bearings - and they said that it would cost between $6000 and $7000 to repair! Yikes! That was half what we paid for the vehicle. He said there was no way the dealer did not know there was a problem with the engine. While it was there, the Jeep dealer also did several recall repairs that had not been done. After the diagnosis, Crown agreed to take the car back and cancel my loan, although not without a week's delay because the general manager "was not in." Debbie was extremely helpful during the loan cancellation process. She made sure all of the proper paperwork was sent (and resent) so we could finally buy a different (Certified) vehicle. Thanks, Debbie, for your repeated contact with the finance company and your patience with us during that time! Honestly, I was not going to write anything about this dealership despite our very bad experience, since they DID take the car back (perhaps because I mentioned my attorney?) but upon seeing that this vehicle is again being sold, and it does not mention a new engine (the only way to repair the problem) or show any repairs on the Carfax, I believe they are reselling this vehicle in the same condition to the next buyer who will get a vehicle that needs a repair that costs half of the purchase price. They may be good at selling new Caddy's but DO NOT buy a used car here!!!!! More

On june 28,2012my wife and I vistied Crown Cadillac to inquire about leasing a new CTS. I met with Mr. Ron Kramer who was very cordial.We sat at his desk and he went over every detail of leasing the car.H inquire about leasing a new CTS. I met with Mr. Ron Kramer who was very cordial.We sat at his desk and he went over every detail of leasing the car.He covered all aspects f he car, no questions went unanswered and he was very through in his respondes. He made my decision to lease the car very easy. The next day we went to pick up the vehicle, and Ron went over everything in the car omitting nothing, including the on star program. He gave us a tour of the entire faculity to include the service department. Ron Kramer and Luis Pacheco and rhe rest of the Crown Cadillac team should be commented for the honest and hassle free purchasing experience we went through. I feel very confident when I bring my car for service at Crown this will contine. More
