Comparison of two experiences I had an opportunity to compare a Costco AutoProgram and TrueCar buying experience on June 6, 2014. I was looking for an Acura RDX AWD 2014. TrueCar I had an opportunity to compare a Costco AutoProgram and TrueCar buying experience on June 6, 2014. I was looking for an Acura RDX AWD 2014. TrueCar quoted a price at a $2,170 savings of MSRP and connected me to Crown Acura in Clearwater. Costco AutoProgram connected me with Regal Acura in Lakeland, which quoted me a $4,466 discount, twice as large as TrueCar’s. I checked with both dealerships and both promised they had precisely the car I was looking for precisely at the price they advertised. I first scheduled an appointment with Regal in Lakeland as they offered a bigger discount. The dealership was empty. Kendall Miller and Raj Abraham greeted us cordially and friendly, offered coffee, and a ride in a car that was already prepared for us. Then it turned out that they did not have the car they earlier said they had it in stock. At that point Mr. Abraham brought two (!) sales managers who tried to sell me a newer model of the same car, at a higher cost. They blamed their “confused” staff and large and complex inventory for incompetence and incorrect price advertisement. It was a demeaning and insulting experience of over-promise, under-delivery, blame-shifting, and waste of time. It may explain why Regal dealership was empty when we visited it. I left without a car and scheduled my next appointment with Crown Acura the same day. Gillian Barnes, a Crown Acura Sales Consultant, had the car as promised and presented it in the most professional way. The car was priced exactly as advertised by TrueCar and I drove it off the lot the same day. In conclusion, both Costco AutoProgram and Regal Acura in Lakeland have lots to learn from TrueCar and Crown Acura in Clearwater. More

Finally a painless car buying experience I normally don't take the time to do reviews unless something is either really great or really bad. I had such a good experience leasing a new car fr I normally don't take the time to do reviews unless something is either really great or really bad. I had such a good experience leasing a new car from Crown that I had to do a review. I came in with all my notes ready to haggle and spend a long Saturday afternoon trying to hammer out a deal. I was pleasantly surprised when Chris Duncanson, my sale guy, started walking me through the process. He explained all the numbers to me and I will say they matched what I was looking for without evening having to haggle. He was really great through the whole thing, going out of his way to make sure i was comfortable with everything. I can tell he's customer oriented and not just trying to sell me something to make a quick buck. Then I had a similar experience with the Finance Manager who didn't try to hard sell me on any of the extra options. Again it was quick and painless. Overall I can really tell these guys want me as a customer and are extremely service oriented. Two thumbs up! More

What made this experience different was Acura and their customer service. Aura was the third car dealer we visited. I went in having done my research for the MDX online. It was high on my list that included cars from BMW and Infinity. Richard Morris was our sales person. After talking and joking with him I knew I felt at ease, truly. The process took a few weeks due to my schedule and in that time I never felt pressured or hounded. Richard (and Sue Ellen) were more than helpful answering all our questions again without that added feeling of the past typical sales pitches I've experienced with other dealers. Once we committed to a specific MDX and had the pleasure of working with the finance department (Keith, John and Evelyn), I was again pleasantly surprised to find the experience friendly and relaxing. I look forward to future purchases with Richard and will continue to recommend him to all our friends. More

I consider Chris Duncanson the best car salesperson I've ever worked with, and that is saying something because all of the sales people I've dealt with at Crown Acura have been great. Chris was thoroughly engaged during the whole process, easy to understand, with great knowledge of Acuras. He wasn't just someone who had been trained in customer service; he has an innate understanding of what it means to work with people. His patience was also deeply appreciated. I would highly recommend Crown Acura--and most definitely Chris Duncanson. More

Best car dealership experience ever! I am a new transplant to the area. There are 2 in the Jacksonville, FL area, here there are 3 close by. I chose Crown Acura over the others because they had the best selection of what I wanted. They also happened to have the best prices. I worked with Gillian, because when I made a web inquiry, she contacted me. I knew they were busy, but I couldn't help but admire her always making an effort to get back to me. Even well after the dealership was closed, I received a call when she was on her way home, or just coming to work in the morning. This sounds like pressure, but I assure you it wasn't. I was not prepared, however, for the atmosphere when I arrived. Gillian was wrapping up another appointment, so I was helped by Sue Ellen in her stead. I have never seen a dealership in such a "team mode" before. Sue Ellen saw that our questions and needs were met until Gillian could sit down with us. This was the already busy Sales Manager, ensuring our experience was interactive and not waiting. Then someone else took the car back to have a service done we had requested. Everybody was asking if they could do anything for us while we were there, even knowing fully that Gillian was our sales person. Gillian, as well as the others, was amazing and friendly, more like a family member than a professional associate. We then worked with Evelyn to close the finance end. We had arrived with a credit union check, but then she beat it with a bank rate 7/10 of a percent better, with no early payoff penalty. She was fast, funny and great. Just extremely helpful, and where it didn't make sense for me to get some of the options added on, there was no marketing push. She realized we didn't need them. Done. Moving on. I highly recommend this dealership. I can say that about only one other, but that was a Honda dealer in Jacksonville. More

From the moment she greeted us at the door, to the day of delivery, she went out of her way to make us feel valued and appreciated. She knows the vehicles and the features that benefit our lifestyle. After choosing to test drive the 2014 MDX, she explained the basic functions and continued on with the many features as we drove. Her thoughtful approach was pleasant and detailed. Once back at her desk she asked if we wanted her to get a value on our trade-in, but made it clear that was all she would do and was not pressuring us at all. She quickly returned with bottles of water for my wife and I, and proceeded to value our trade. Sophie returned with our keys, and a basic sheet with an offer for the vehicle. Fast, friendly and NO pressure. It was great! We told her we would like to think about the offer, and thanked her for her time. She introduced us to Sue Ellen Rumple, and she was just as pleasant as Sophie. We left after saying I really wanted the new red color vehicle, and they agreed to try and locate one and let me know. Two days later, I received a call from Sophie saying they located one and could get it brought over. Well something happened and that vehicle was not available. Undaunted, Sue found one and Sophie let me know right away. Thanks to the pleasant, no pressure, knowledgeable sales process by Sophie, I now am the proud owner of that red 2014 MDX. On the day of delivery, Sophie introduced me to Evelyn in the finance department who was very thorough and pleasant as well. While Evelyn prepared all the paperwork that goes with trading a vehicle and buying a new one, Sophie took me out to the new MDX and showed me how to connect my cell phone with blue tooth (complete with importing contacts), how to manage the navigation system, how to set up radio stations and so much more. The entire experience could not have been much better, and then Sophie said, you will have to call and come back so I can explain more of the vehicle. I would, and will, recommend Sophie and Crown Acura to all that I can. Thank you Sophie, and the entire team at Crown Acura. More
