First, let me thank Norman Barksdale for the BEST car buying experience we have EVER had! Prior to this, I would never venture to say that buying a car could even possibly be close to a positive experie buying experience we have EVER had! Prior to this, I would never venture to say that buying a car could even possibly be close to a positive experience. I was truly envisioning just another visit that I would be turned off by. This wasn't the case at Flemington Chevrolet Buick GMC at all! My husband and I had such a great experience that I couldn't wait to return the next day to bring back the spare key for our trade even though we were taking home our "new" car that night! Then from the moment we stepped in, Norman was our friendly face who greeted us and we chose each other and began the journey to buying our used 2009 GMA Acadia. Everyone else in the dealership smiled at us and greeted us. No one jumped at us or pushed us. We were made to feel welcome by everyone. Everyone we came in contact with greeted us and introduced themselves to us even though they weren't our sales consultant. Norman made sure we were comfortable realizing that my husband was recovering from surgery and so was Norman...and he gave us the best he had to offer of himself. We spent a few hours with Norman and that is something that I didn't expect to happen. He took us on a demo ride to experience the car we were looking at. He said he was going to take us to the "showroom" so we could get out and take a peaceful look at the car. We went on a beautiful ride to a park (aka..the showroom) nearby. He made us get out and and in and out of the car several times! He made us look at the engine and if he could have turned the car upside down...he would have! He is very strong and part Samoan...did you know that!!!! We got such a laugh at the visit to the "showroom" but truly were given his time and knowledge on the car and came away confident that we had seen everything there was to know about it...including its turning radius...I didn't think I needed to know that but Norman said we did and if Norman says it's so...then it is! We continued to enjoy our time with Norman even when it was time to talk about the finance end of it. By this time we had already met Eric Henderson, Finance Manager, earlier and he was happy to help us as was Bob Morse the Used Car Manager. Of course, this is where I thought we could have some trouble, but there was none. We worked together and found common ground easily on price and post warranty coverage. There was never any pressure from anyone especially with Norman making sure that we were comfortable at every turn. Special thanks to Eric and Bob for working with us and also making the experience well worth our time. Their knowledge was reassuring and very helpful. Thank you to Eleni who helped me set up On Star and XM outside in the car in the rain! To tell you the truth...we all had some laughs and shared family stories and learned a bit about each other. Norman taught us some Hawaiian words and translations and while he learned about us we learned about his love of boating, fishing and love for his wife, Susan. We came away from Flemington Chevrolet Buick GMC knowing some great new friends and were introduced to everyone we would possibly be dealing with in the future such as Kathleen and Bob in service. We bought a 1995 Dodge Intrepid many years ago in Flemington. Yes, that was a very good experience also and we kept that car until it "died". Why I didn't think about coming back earlier I can't answer. I'm so thankful that we ventured back! Norman has called to check on us since our purchase and I brought everyone some Philly Fluff cake and cookies from Natale's bakery in Summit to show our appreciation. I'm going in tomorrow to happily pick up license plates and say hello to our new friends at Flemington Chevrolet Buick GMC! I love my "new" car! Jeff was able to show me how to get to the shopping outlets (big plus!) and didn't appear to think that my questions about features of the truck were trivial ( like can i charge two DS's at one time in the second & third rows, which IS a BIG DEAL to my kids). i was offered a beverages at least 8 times by every employee that walked by... always a nice touch. two employees even complimented me on my self-made purse, which even my bestest of friends say is ugly. The stayed with us 2 hours after the regular closing time to explain the vehicle features, the finance documents, protection coverage and spent 30 minutes on the phone with GEICO to ensure the insurance coverage was correct and in effect before hitting the street. For the record, we live 35 miles from this dealership and wanted to come back because of the way we were treated. I will recommend Flemington GMC to anyone who serious about buying a new vehicle.
