Mr. Hannigan, Thank you for sharing your story and for purchasing your car at Charlies. We apologize for the mechanical issues your vehicle has experienced and for not being able to predict these mechanical failures before the purchase of your 100,378 mile Impala. We would like to express that we have honored your 3 month/3000 mile used car warranty and it does expire on 10/18/14, 90 days after you purchased the vehicle. At your request in your letter to the Attorney General, you requested that we either trade you into another vehicle, buy your vehicle back or repair your engine - we offered all 3 options to you. If you recall we offered to buy your vehicle back from you for what you paid for it less $0.28/mile driven which equated to $410,not the $1200 described above, and we offered that same value in trade on any car of your choice. As you stated at that time, "I cannot replace the vehicle for what I paid for it", you elected to have us install a replacement engine. Your warranty obligation was to pay a $100 deductible per visit, which we waived for all your repairs and thus we have spent in excess of $4500.00 repairing your vehicle at no cost to you. As you are aware, the replacement engine had 90,000 miles at the time install, 11,800 less than your vehicle. As you pointed out, all car buyers are welcomed to have a vehicle checked out at a shop of their choice or look at the vehicle themselves on a lift at our facility. Unfortunately, none of us are able to predict what is going to fail on any car, especially a car with higher mileage. We apologize for the issues with your vehicle and did not expect that by repairing your vehicle at no cost to you would cause you to be unhappy.
