We had planned to keep this car for several years and actually made the mistake of purchasing an extended warranty at that time. To preface our experience; In July 2016 our car died in a car wash kiosk and would not start. We determined that the battery had failed. We contacted Chapman Service adviser and explained that our car died and felt it was the battery and would be covered under warranty. She stated "that they would have to check it out to determine that the problem was not caused by an after-market added device that would not be covered under warranty". Our initial response was that we purchased a car with all of the factory options and never considered installing any after market devices. Little did we know that the dealership had haphazardly installed an after market alarm device to up-sale the price of the car. We did not purchase this device or service when we purchased our car. Needless to say that just hearing the Service Adviser say that sent up a BIG RED FLAG! In early January 2018, we had just completed the 60,000 mile service at 58,000 miles since we were diligent to maintain our investment and followed all recommended services. A day after we had the 60,000 mile service completed, we had noticed a plastic burning smell that dissipated and we thought it was something outside of the car and continued to drive the car. A week later our radio began to switch mode for no reason. We contacted the dealer regarding this condition and they said that there had been a recall on the clock spring and to bring the car in for repair. While driving to the dealer, we also had headlight warning indicators on the dashboard and other unexplained electrical "gremlins". This was determined at that time to be related to clock spring. The clock spring was replaced and we received our car back. Two days later, we had the same radio changing mode condition and contacted the dealer. The dealer asked us to leave the car with them to troubleshoot and provided a loaner. The next day, the dealer contacted us and asked if we had installed any after market devices in the car. We did not and stated to check with Chapman dealership to see if they installed any after market devices. Chapman replied to the servicing dealership that they install Southwest Dealership KARR Alarm devices in all of their cars during dealer prep. We found that they install this device to inflate the MSRP of the car and try to get additional income on the sale of a new car. The servicing dealership informed us that this after market alarm device had shorted out and actually burned several wires in the wiring harness where it was installed. The servicing dealership informed us that the damage caused by this device was not under warranty and proceeded to remove this device and band-aide the burned harness at OUR EXPENSE. We found that this device was haphazardly connected to no less then 10 wires in our car's wiring harness. We were still experiencing mode switching with the radio. We were informed that we need to subscribe to Sirius radio so that a radio reset could be performed. We felt that this should be something for Hyundai to do since we did not want to pay for a service that we did not want.. We no longer felt comfortable driving our car and had it towed home. We contacted Veda our original sales person and told her of our concern and the fact that the device installed by their dealership had voided our warranty and burned our wiring harness. She stated to get in to their dealership and they would "make it good on us by selling us a new car for a heavily discounted cost". We arrived at the dealership and found that they were still installing these KARR Alarm devices in all of their cars during dealer prep. We were still willing to hear what kind of deal they were going to offer. Veda contacted Johnny Rodriquez (sales manager) and they agreed to get us into a new car at a heavily discounted cost since they were responsible for our cars problems. We looked at several cars with good intentions to purchase a new car, but after dealing with Johnny R who said that he was providing us huge discounts and offering an exaggerated trade in value, we were not so sure of his offer so we shopped around. We were able to get a better offer at 2 competing Hyundai dealerships. When we contacted Johnny R to inform him of our better offers, he was very rude and stated to us that this is a new month (Feb 2018) and the trade-in valve of our car has actually decreased. We were upset and disgusted with Johnny and his false promises and were in need of a new car. We purchased a new car at a competing dealer for a better price then offered by Johnny at Chapman. We will never purchase a car from any dealer that voids the manufacturers warranty by installing unwanted devices in their cars for the purposes of an "up sale". This experience has resulted in a financial loss of over $10,000 that we had not budgeted. Chapman Hyundai lost all integrity with us and we will never deal with them again. The $1850 Chapman dealership "extended warranty" that we purchased to cover the car following the expiration of the manufactures warranty was actually pro-rated. We got $925 back. Live and learn. We hope that our experience may help others to make a proper decision when purchasing a new car. Beware of dealer greed by installing up sale devices that void the manufacturers warranty!!! Beware of sales people that say they will "make it right for you since they created the problem" More

The long wait Let me start by saying our salesman David Rodriguez was AWESOME! I watched him run all over the Dealership to get the car gather everything we needed. Let me start by saying our salesman David Rodriguez was AWESOME! I watched him run all over the Dealership to get the car gather everything we needed. That is where the great experience ended. This was by far the longest I have ever spent at a dealership. We knew the car we wanted so there was no time spent wandering the lot. It still took us 4+ hours to buy this car. The sales managers were slow making decisions and once we agreed on the price and financing we again had to wait for a finance person to come available. Keep in mind We had our 5 year old with us keep in mind. So we missed dinner and her normal bed time. We waited more than an hour for a person to come available. We had to wait for an employee to purchase a vehicle over the walk in. They finally figured it out but it should never have been an issue. David did everything he could do come see him. Just know you will be here for a while. In both places More
