In 2012 I bought a brand new chevy Malibu from them at the their Tent event. a week later, on my birthday they called me in to tell me they needed $1400 more in cash from me. I got them down to $500 and walked out after 4 hours on my birthday. Then my wife and I bought a new 2013 Spark from them and used her paid-off car in March, no problems. Now in July I start receiving letters from GM telling they and Chapman want to buy back my Malibu. So, I call and make an appointment. After 4 hours there, I get told that the Truck they can make work for me, is unavailable (as the fleet manager wouldn't let it go) and I walk away empty handed. Then 2 weeks later they call me asking me to comeback in and see if they can make it work again, so I agree. I went down there and spent another 4+ hours. Finally came to a deal, and left happy. Today I get a call from Travis, telling me I need to come down and visit him or Jim, I asked him straight up if they were going to ask for more money. Travis tells me that they couldn't get some of the money for the trade-in and now I HAVE to come see them ASAP.... So in my opinion, unless you have your own financing, these guys will try to squeeze you even after the deal. So I have cleaned out the truck and am ready to take back my car. Sure enough, got to the dealership and all they wanted was 3-4k in cash. Told them sorry didn't have it and rather than try to find out if some other car might work, they just said ok we will get your old car pulled around...45 minutes later my car arrives, is on empty and has been stickered for them to sell. Was missing center console wall pieces, made them pull one from another vehicle. But they refused to put any gas in it, even though the truck came back with a full tank. So after waiting 30 minutes after the scheduled appointment for someone to talk to me, then another 45 minutes just to bring my car out to me. So, after 5 purchases and a referral sale, I am really not sure this company is even worth the Chevy Brand. More
Deceptive!!! Called to verify the vehicle I was interested in was still available, was told vehicle was there and ready to look at. I left work early, drove there, sales person said he just saw t interested in was still available, was told vehicle was there and ready to look at. I left work early, drove there, sales person said he just saw the vehicle on his way into work that afternoon, walked us all around the lots, could not find the vehicle, he claims it was just taken to the auction lot a few hours earlier even though we had called ahead to say we were interested in it. We spent an hour and a half "touring" the lot trying to interest us in something else. Last minute they claim they would retrieve the vehicle and give us a great deal. The great deal was the same as what the internet had offered, not a penny less. NOT happy to waist my time and miss my dinner to be told they really don't have the vehicle. Next day my auto broker found the vehicle in a auction lot in the next state over, NV, and had not even been on the Tempe, AZ lot the day we called and traveled to Tempe to look at it. The sales people are not to be trusted! More
Got a check engine light on my trunk, My neighbor plugged in his computer and was able to retrieve a DLC code or P0523, I called Eric Erskine/Chapman Chevrolet and he provided me with estimated $250 if they in his computer and was able to retrieve a DLC code or P0523, I called Eric Erskine/Chapman Chevrolet and he provided me with estimated $250 if they had to replace the oil pressure sending switch. I believed this price to be fair so I dropped my trunk off at the service department. Later that day I received a call from Eric that it was going to cost $509 for the same oil pressure sending switch, I advised him that he had already quoted me $250, he said he would not be able to do it for that amount and was not certain WHY he quoted me that amount. I called several other local Chevrolet Dealers and was given a price of $350 from both Brown & Brown and Superstition Chevrolet. I emailed Eric and he agreed that he would match the other dealer’s prices. Moral of the story: Be wary of taking your vehicle to CHAPMAN CHEVROLET as they tried to scam a few extra bucks off of me. Personally, I will never take my vehicle back! More
Review UPDATE (4/22/2013): After a complaint was filed Review UPDATE (4/22/2013): After a complaint was filed with GM and the dealership was contacted by dealerrater, I was contacted by the General Sales Review UPDATE (4/22/2013): After a complaint was filed with GM and the dealership was contacted by dealerrater, I was contacted by the General Sales Manager, George Salman. At first I was skeptical, as my first impression still had a bad taste in my mouth. I brought the truck in with my concerns (namely the oil leak that had to have been there before I took it home as well as the fog lights not working). Mr. Salman could not have been more of a standup and professional individual. He addressed my concerns and understood where I was coming from. I wasn't naive enough to believe that a used truck would be perfect, but the issues that I encountered were the exact kind of issues you shouldn't have when purchasing from a dealer (that is what their inspection is performed for and why you end up paying a little more than when you purchase from a private seller). I wasn't looking for special treatment, only what was honest and fair. Mr. Salman was MORE than fair, and it has gone a long way to rectify any ill-will towards Chapman Chevrolet. NOTE: This would have been a 5 rating (GREAT) across the board if every interaction with Howard Thayler, Sales Manager, hadn't been an absolute nightmare. If you happen to be at the dealership and if he in any way approaches you, simply state you'd like to work with someone else. I assure you, it will go a long way in improving your experience. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Disclaimer: I have purchased many different makes of vehicles both new and used. This has been BY FAR been the WORST car buying experience I have EVER had. Salesperson: Matt Mcleod Sales Manager: Howard Thayler I went to look at a used Ford F-250. I looked at the truck and Matt kept telling me how great a truck it was while boasting about their multi-point inspection. After a test drive, we are sitting at Matt's desk and start to talk price. He starts with a number outside my price range. I simply said it was outside my price range. So he starts talking down the price while gauging my reaction. He comes to a number that he says he doesn't know if he can do but asked me to sign a handwritten piece of paper saying I will buy the truck if it is offered at the price HE came up with and wrote down. I wouldn't sign it. I simply said to go see if he could make it happen. In comes Howard, the sales manager. Howard should NEVER be allowed to talk to customers! He is rude, condescending, and his manner comes off as borderline harassment. He begins his pitch by asking me why they should consider selling me the truck at the price written down. I informed him that the price that was written down was put there by his salesperson, not me. He then proceeded to LECTURE me about why a premium is paid when you purchase a used car from a dealer - essentially boasting about the multi-point inspection. He assured me it was a clean truck and a steal for the price on the paper. I said I needed to make a phone call. I called my father and former neighbor (who owns several Ford dealerships in Utah). With their input, I decided that at that price I would have to sleep on it. I came back and told Matt and Howard that I would have to take some time on it while looking other places. Howard began to harass me suggesting that I didn't know what I was doing and he "would hate for me to pass up a good deal based on a phone call." He made me go look at the truck again. I simply stated at that price it was something I would have to sleep on. So they ASKED me what number would make me write a check that day. I made another phone call and basically said if they took another $1000 off their current asking price I would write a check that day. Howard was visibly upset. He went back to his office, came back, and said the best they could do was another $300 off their price they left off at. I thanked them for their time and began to leave. Howard, now apparently in a dealing mood, said he'd take off another $400 (give or take), putting it at $300 above the price I gave them. I said no. Howard then VERY RUDELY AND CONDESCENDINGLY (more than he had been up until now - which was hard to believe he could top) said that he COULDN'T BELIEVE THAT I WAS HAGGLING AND BEING STINGY OVER $300! So my obvious response was that I couldn't believe HE was haggling and being stingy over $300 and started walking to my car. As I am almost to my car, Matt comes running after me and says they'll take my offer. At that point I was visibly upset and had lost all interest in the sale. I explained to Matt that Howard was an arrogant, unprofessional, condescending jerk and that I will not talk to him anymore. I told Matt I wanted to make another phone call from my car. Here comes HOWARD! He harassed me all the way to my car. I told him flat out that I am tired of his attitude and his bully sales tactics and that I will not be guilt-tripped into buying a car from him. - At that point I left the dealership. The next day I received an email from Matt saying that he was sorry for the experience and asked me if I still wanted the truck for my asking price. I told him I would take a pass. He then asked what I would say if they took another $500 off my price for the bad experience. I told him I would do it. I went in and Matt said that if I had any issues with the truck I should call him. I asked SPECIFICALLY whether that included an oil leak. He said YES. He said that Chapman had just acquired a Ford dealership and that since there was only one ignition key, he could call to see if they would make me another one at a discount - It took him almost a week to ACTUALLY make the call (I inquired daily). He said he was busy, which is understandable - to a point. A phone call to find out I would not be eligible for a discount takes less than a minute. I drove the truck home with a promise from Matt that my car would be driven to my house for me by himself and an attendant the next day. This turned out to be an empty promise and I was forced to inconvenience a friend (who lives an hour from my place, and my place is an hour from the dealership) to help me pick up my car. What happened next absolutely blew me away... The ONLY miles I have put on this truck was from the dealer to home, then to a Ford dealership to get another ignition key made. At this point I had found that the windshield wiper fluid did not work and the fog lights did not work. During a very basic inspection Ford made while fixing the wiper fluid and making the key they found an oil leak. So, since Matt said I should call him, I did. He transferred me to Howard who basically said tough - it's a used vehicle and as long as it runs they don't cover it. So basically the "multi-point" inspection they gave the truck didn't cover wiper fluid, the fog lights, and OIL LEAKS! After the LECTURE Howard had given me as to why people pay a premium for a used car at a dealership! Apparently, their "inspection" consists of just seeing if the truck runs! A complaint has been filed with GM. I am not naive enough to believe a used truck would be perfect, but one would think that an oil leak, wiper fluid spray, and fog lights would be things a dealer would catch and fix BEFORE selling! And then when they specifically told me to call them with ANY issue, they essentially blow me off. More
I had all but given up on Chapman Chevrolet. I was never going to buy from you again or refer anybody to your dealership had it not been for Len Bishop in the Service Department. I have taken my car in for going to buy from you again or refer anybody to your dealership had it not been for Len Bishop in the Service Department. I have taken my car in for servicing twice under my expensive warranty and prior to meeting Len was treated extremely poorly both when I dropped it off and picked it up. As an example on the visit before Len, they could not even find my car or the problem before I picked it up. There was less than a quarter tank and it was dirtier the when I left it off. From the minute I met Len I was treated as a VIP, he was professional, courteous and prompt. My car was ready within two hours after drop off, cleaned inside and out. I was greeted with a warm welcoming, enthusiastic smile, which made my day. Having been a sale and service manager for many years, I would gladly welcome Len on my team. He completely restored my faith in Chapman Chevrolet and it is only because of him, that I am willing to buy another car from Chapman Chevrolet and to refer my friends and family. Len I hope you know and that your management team tells you... YOU ROCK!!! 5 stars Len, 5 stars! Merry Christmas, Lora Morgan and Family More
This dealership was THE best service experience I have ever had. The worker had overheard me discussing to a friend about my horrible experience a nearby Nissan dealership and that I was still very frustr ever had. The worker had overheard me discussing to a friend about my horrible experience a nearby Nissan dealership and that I was still very frustrated over it. He did everything in his power to make up for my bad experience with dealership. He worked genuinely, quickly, efficiently, and diligently to get my oil changed and quick as possible. Not to mention their friendly and caring customer service quality. The office is also nice by providing TV, water bottles and coffee. I would go here for any car work! More
Absolutely the best Chevrolet dealership I have ever purchased from, that's why they got my business - 5 new cars in less than 18 months. As far as service is concerned, these guys have a can do attitud purchased from, that's why they got my business - 5 new cars in less than 18 months. As far as service is concerned, these guys have a can do attitude, none of the typical "no problem found" xx you get from other service departments. Jeff Talbot is exceptional and takes his job not only seriously - but with passion. My concerns are noted and corrected, no excuses, and this guy always take incredible care of both myself, family members, and our vehicles. The body shop - another top notch operation - they have a painter down there that I hope they can keep for as long as he can stay on his feet. I've seen his work, and he's also done corrective work on one of my new SS Camaro's, absolutely top notch. I know about the industry, and am well versed in body work, paint and mechanical issues. These guys are highly recommended. If you get the chance to meet Jeff Talbot down in service, please do. This guy should own the business as far as I am concerned. Also, stop by the parts department and check out the crate engines on display. It's a candy store. Thanks again Jeff for re-newing my faith in Chevrolet as a brand. Bad experience in 1990-1991 back in the Northeast with S10 Blazer's (two new 4x4's in 3 years) forced me to go to Toyota where I remained for a decade owning 9 models in all. Seems that Chapman's got me for the next turn....so far four 5th Gen Camaro's, a Cruze, and prior to Chapman (that started it all back up inside me) a Z06 Covette. More

After purchasing a car there - which they lied to me about pricing and warranty (but who is surprised to hear that - its a car dealership) I decided to have my car serviced there routinely (oil, tires, about pricing and warranty (but who is surprised to hear that - its a car dealership) I decided to have my car serviced there routinely (oil, tires, etc.). The one time I did not go there (I went to a friend to have my oil changed) I was told that they had never checked my brakes (I was well over 50k miles). They had indicated to me before that they had, I even have it in writing, but my friend indicated that since I still had the tab on my brakes they had never removed it to see the driveability of them. I also got my oil changed before a long summer road trip (2 weeks of driving cross country). On the last leg of the trip back home, I stopped to get gas and check my air pressure. I was surprised to find the directional tires on my car to be off balance. Chapman Chevy was the last place to rotate my tires and they were all faced in the wrong direction. More
