I Hate Shopping for Cars - Ty Made it Pleasant Let me start this by saying that I'd rather have major dental procedures than shop for cars. It seems like many car sales representatives are full of Let me start this by saying that I'd rather have major dental procedures than shop for cars. It seems like many car sales representatives are full of lies and they try to get every last dime out of their customers. Ty cut all of the typical car sales "negotiation" and gave me realistic numbers for not only my trade, but realistic numbers for the vehicle I was looking for. I had been shopping for a couple of months, behind a computer screen (because I despise the typical "just come in and see the vehicle" talk I get when shopping for a vehicle). Most sales reps try and give you an extremely low offer and try to get you to come in and "sell" you on the vehicle you are looking at. They just give you the same offer you can get from an auto trader immediate cash number that anyone online can get (that is typically 50% of your vehicle's private sale value). Ty gave me real numbers right off the bat. Out of the hundreds of dealerships I had been inquiring on, (some 500 miles or more from me), I only responded to those that gave me real numbers. When I got there, the car was ready and the only surprise was that I could get the vehicle that I was looking at for under book and my trade would bring over average book. That's a fair deal. I realize that car dealerships have to make money, but the way that most of them try to do it is to screw customers. In the rare situation that I find a dealership that works with a customer for a fair deal, I understand that they are in the 1% of sales people that are in it for the long haul. Service Dept. is TERRIBLE, NEVER TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!!!!! I took my vehicle in because my check engine light was on, they ran diagnostics, called me back and said everything was fine and they were resetting t I took my vehicle in because my check engine light was on, they ran diagnostics, called me back and said everything was fine and they were resetting the light. I proceeded to drive to Kansas City,MO and my check engine light was back on and I lost my acceleration capabilities. I ended up at Legends Toyota where they proceeded to tell me that CR Toyota had noted on MY ACCOUNT that my engine was MISFIRING and that I could've caused serious damage to my car driving as far as I did. They were closing and helped me with a temporary fix so I could get home. I took my vehicle 2 days later back to CR toyota and had them check out my engine again. This time they called me and told me that I need 4 new tires and an alignment and that will fix my misfiring ENGINE. This is completely ludicrous. The people that work in their service area should be FIRED. I am disgusted with the service department and am now going to Toyota of Iowa City. More
