Dear Customer, My name is Stephen Sparkman, and I am the General Manager of Casey Kia. I received your Dealerrater.com statement just this morning. I have to say that I am always concerned about negative feedback and always look forward to correcting our mistakes. I am very aware of the situation with you are referring to and I will gladly give you a brief perspective of the event. Looking at the signature I believe you were the friend of the customer in question. A cash deposit of $50 and a permission to ride was issued to a customer. However, because of things out of our control the deal could not be made and we needed to take the car back and give the customer his money back, this was 4 days after the customer initially took the vehicle. That day the customer came to our dealership to get a refund on his deposit and I advised him that I had already submitted a request for a check to be issued to that to him for the full $50.00. It is our policy to give a prompt refund but, because we do not hold cash at the dealership we issue checks through our accounting department located on J. Clyde Blvd. A check also protects all parties keeping a paper trail on the amount refunded as a check and balance. Credit card refunds are by far the easiest and can be done on site right away. In reading your statement, the thing that really caught my attention was, "They wanted us to leave the lot without our money like we did something wrong." The reason this drew such attention was because we explained that a check would be issued next day which was less than 12 hours away. I remember the customers response, "I ain't leaving without my fifty dollars even if it has to come out of your pocket." I explained that we couldn't do that and we would have a check in the morning. At that point the customer became belligerent and threatened violence against me. As I may quote, “I am gonna b***h slap you, punk, I’m gonna get my money you will see.” I truly believe at that point all talking was done and the best thing to do was to advise the customer to leave the premises. Because of the outburst I picked the phone up to call the police for assistance if need be. I’m sorry that you feel chased off however, if the customer is not going to accept what we are saying and will use threats of violence I must protect our other customers and employees from this type of behavior. Just so you are aware the check was at our dealership next morning and promptly delivered to the customer. Please read the number of great experiences people have with us. And look at the negative ones. We are not the type of dealer that would ever chase people away. We look forward to serving customers and will attempt to do everything possible to promote the best experience possible. That is why we are the #1 Kia store in the State of Virginia. Stephen P.
