I would give them no stars. STAY CLEAR FROM CARMAX, DO NOT EVER CONSIDER USING THEM FOR A VEHICLE PURCHASE ESPECIALLY IN THE LAS VEGAS AND HENDERSON NEVADA STORES THESE PEOPLE ARE THE WORST. They use this NOT EVER CONSIDER USING THEM FOR A VEHICLE PURCHASE ESPECIALLY IN THE LAS VEGAS AND HENDERSON NEVADA STORES THESE PEOPLE ARE THE WORST. They use this software program thats in house, and sit you down at a desk and you have a monitor facing you and they have one facing them, they are trying to pretend they are showing you how the financing part works and try to come across like they are being transparent. NOTICE I SAID TRYING??? Anyways, I have a friend that worked for Carmax a few years back and he was their IT technician and was involved with this program they are now using across all Carmax stores. This program pretends to find you a bank finance company and it acts like its searching for all the major companies in the country. ITS NOT! It also pretends to give you a good finance rate. IT DOESNT! My buddy told me that Carmax uses this fake system so it doesnt have to appear like its the car salesman who can work the numbers and negotiate with you about the price. Using this technique you can never work down a price on a vehicle or try to negotiate a deal because the sales worker will just point to the computer monitor and say thats all they can do and its not him thats making the decision its the computer and the results its giving. My buddy says its all smoke and mirrors and not transparent at all!!! Stay away from these crooks More
Picked up my new car 2 weeks after purchase. Parts missing, unsafe broken blinker wiring harnes, unsafe tires due to bad alignment. Then, still more issues after picking car up from them after "fixing missing, unsafe broken blinker wiring harnes, unsafe tires due to bad alignment. Then, still more issues after picking car up from them after "fixing the issues", oil life somehow at 22% even though I've driven the car 300 miles. They didn't fix the tire issue because the sensors aren't assigned to the correct tires so they only replaced the 2 tires w a visible wear pattern. Didn't bother to look at the others I guess. They let me drive off in an unsafe car 3 times. They didn't even listen about keeping my same plae/plate #s. Today, when I went to talk about solutions. I told them I don't trust them to fox the car correctly or even to take this car to the dealership for work. I told them I would drop off the car n come back for a loaner. I was informed they would not do this. Because they wouldn't physically have the car for a service order. I have never had such an amazingly awful experience in my entire existence. More
I just experienced terrible after-the-sale customer service from CarMax of Savannah, Georgia. I discovered yesterday that when CarMax changed the oil in the 2020 truck I purchased on 4/11/2021, they di service from CarMax of Savannah, Georgia. I discovered yesterday that when CarMax changed the oil in the 2020 truck I purchased on 4/11/2021, they did not replace the oil filler cap. Fortunately, the oil pressure never dropped, and it lost only a quart, but that quart was sprayed all over the underside of the hood and the engine compartment. I called to ask for compensation for a cap (on order from the local Toyota dealer), the quart of oil, and the cost of having the engine compartment cleaned. I got passed along to three people--in the service department--before I found one who could put me on hold and speak to someone else who understood what an oil filler cap was. The person to whom I was speaking told me that "he" (a manager?) said he could compensate me for the oil and cap but not the cleaning. They would clean it if I could bring it in "today." First, "today" does me no good; I won't have a cap until tomorrow, and the oil is being contained with a rag held on with cable ties. Second, I live over an hour away, as do many people who purchase from CarMax, which locates stores only in large metropolitan areas. When I objected to spending at least 2.5 hours having something corrected that was their fault, the person I spoke to, with a degree of indignation to which she clearly was not entitled, said, "Look, he's making it right." To which I replied, "No, he isn't, not when he expects me to use up time I don't have to correct something that's your fault and that could have resulted in a blown engine that left me stranded." Everyone at CarMax should have been falling all over themselves apologizing. Instead, she repeated, with even more indignation, "He's making it right." I started to speak, and she cut me off. I pointed out that she had cut me off, and added, "Here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to write the worst review I can on every social media platform I have access to and tell all of my friends never to buy a car from CarMax." She hung up on me. And I'm keeping my promise. I tried to get a car transferred from Charlotte, NC and even paid for it and waited 2 weeks and several hours cumulative on hold only to find out that the car was sold and I was not given a refund. The nex even paid for it and waited 2 weeks and several hours cumulative on hold only to find out that the car was sold and I was not given a refund. The next car I found was in Columbia, SC and had no transfer fee, I was in constant contact and communication with the sales department only to find out that that they sold this car as well. As a single Mom and a healthcare worker I have spent countless hours on hold trying to contact them about a 3rd vehicle and they tried to charge me a $200 transfer fee despite THEIR incompetence. These people are rude and heartless and to be honest I would love to see them go out of business. More
I purchased a 2015 Honda Civic, CarMax of Newport News, VA had the check in hand and sold the car while I was in the hospital. Then, tried to charge me more for the same vehicle and a shipping fee. They VA had the check in hand and sold the car while I was in the hospital. Then, tried to charge me more for the same vehicle and a shipping fee. They did not apologize or try to rectify their own mistake. Buyer beware!! More
So I'm a single mom that lost a job during covid. I starting a new job and needed a car for my son at college. They didn't help me at all. I made an appointment to go over some financing options and ca starting a new job and needed a car for my son at college. They didn't help me at all. I made an appointment to go over some financing options and cars I wanted to look at. I walked through the door and the receptionist/sales lady said I guess your stuck with me! She walked me over to her computer screen and rudely states that my options for financing is 4 cars that were junk. She said go to the parking lot scan the car you want and bring it in to me ?? Ridiculous she treated me like an idiot. Ended up going to Bobby Rahal Honda and they got me in a wonderful car with low miles! Never go there again! More
Twenty (20) weeks ago yesterday I bought a 2019 Dodge Caravan at CarMax in Kennesaw, GA. We still don't have a title for the car. Have gotten nowhere with the store or corporate. I don’t believe anybod Caravan at CarMax in Kennesaw, GA. We still don't have a title for the car. Have gotten nowhere with the store or corporate. I don’t believe anybody at CarMax understands or takes seriously (or cares about) the predicament this places us in. If we were to experience a total loss in the new vehicle, we could not settle a claim and replace the car until we have the title which I have been advised could take another two months. My only two requests of CarMax were beyond reasonable, I asked that CarMax (a) assure me that the car they sold me had a clean title and (b) that in the unlikely event we experienced a total loss in the vehicle before they perfected the title, CarMax would assure us a loaner vehicle until they produced the title so I could settle a claim and replace the vehicle. CarMax has refused to do either, displaying that they would not agree to the very basic of basics when it came to doing the right thing. I understand the refusal to guarantee me that they sold me a car with a clean title, as it is now obvious given that they have had to go back to the original owner for supporting documentation that the title to the car was neither clean nor unencumbered. I’ve never said, thought or believed that CarMax intentionally sold me a car without a clean title; I’m confident that it was a clerical error and that they will eventually get it corrected. However, refusing to provide us basic assurance and protection that would be of zero cost to CarMax is startling, disappointing, and downright frightening. I will never buy a car from CarMax again and I would encourage anybody reading this to give serious consideration to looking for a more reputable dealership when they are ready to buy a car. It appears that when it comes to ethics and integratory as well as a willingness to just do what is right, CarMax isn’t ready for prime time. More

I WAS going to purchase a vehicle at the CARMAX in Midlothian, VA. it was a transfer from VA Beach. I tried repeatedly to contact their customer service via phone and online. Below is what I tried t Midlothian, VA. it was a transfer from VA Beach. I tried repeatedly to contact their customer service via phone and online. Below is what I tried to post to their customer service online portal. after repeated attempts to submit, I gave up. RE: stock # 20063060, 2018 Ford Explorer I was supposed to test drive and purchase the above referenced vehicle. I didn't even bother to drive it. IT IN NO WAY (even the shade of blue was different) resembled the pictures put forth online. The rear cabin area had streaks of who-knows-what on the ceiling and sides (the substance could be chipped off with a fingernail), the exterior had numerous rubs and fine scratches on every body panel. Most of these imperfections can be corrected with a good detailing. One, on the driver side fender actually had an "X" written under it with a crayon. I assume that was a way to mark it for repair. Obviously, pre-inspection of a vehicle only involves wash and vacuum. I was preapproved by Bank of America for 50K. i could have been in the car and gone in less than an hour. Unfortunately, for you, I was gone in less than a half-hour, no sale. This vehicle was priced above average retail by about 200 bucks. I would expect way better than what was presented. My expectations were not unreasonable. I will never consider CARMAX again. The photos online do not give a true depiction of the vehicles. To me, that is akin to the "bait and switch" practice. I wish I had taken the time to check the VIN. For all I know, the vehicle presented ISN'T the one transferred form VA Beach that I requested. Guess we won't know.... More
