I have to say that my experience with Edgar Chavez with Carmax at the Texas Stadium location was TRULY OUTSTANDING in every way... HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend you ask for him by name. Proactive, knowled Carmax at the Texas Stadium location was TRULY OUTSTANDING in every way... HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend you ask for him by name. Proactive, knowledgeable, helpful, and a high quality person. Can you ask anything more? The rest of the Carmax team was also exceptional. I purchased the added warranty expressly because of the representation on the front side of the sale and I look forward engaging their car maintenance services as needed and required. I traded in my precious Jeep Sahara for a beautiful Gladiator that was nearly new. Why Carmax? I had a terrible experience with trying to buy new through a dealership (1 star). Found a Bronco I thought I would like at Carmax with a mediocre sales team in Colorado was disappointed in both (2 stars).... after my return I was fortunate enough to work with Edgar at Texas Stadium, I found EXACTLY what I wanted. I would not work with ANYONE ELSE. Edgar Chavez representation of Carmax was superb in EVERY WAY (Five Stars). More

I could not be more disappointed in this place. I received a quote online and filled out exactly every question including the car had a check engine light. I received an estimate and when I got ther received a quote online and filled out exactly every question including the car had a check engine light. I received an estimate and when I got there and received the actual quote of $100 (which there was more in gas in the car than that. The vehicle is a 2005 Acura MDX - inside and out in great shape. Of course, I walked out and learned what type of company this place really is. Buyer and Seller BEWARE!!!! More
I found a car online that I was really interested in and I had cash on hand to purchase right away, I called Car Max and had a good conversation with an agent and reserved it and booked a test drive the nex I had cash on hand to purchase right away, I called Car Max and had a good conversation with an agent and reserved it and booked a test drive the next day. I was excited to drive and when I looked up the address they confirmed for the test drive appointment it was incorrect vs the listed address which was only 15 minutes from my help. The vehicle was actually 30 hours from my location and it would cost me $1099 to bring it to the listed location. Not a good first experience with Car Max so be careful and review and confirm all information if you decide to use them More
Car Max is NOT working within industry standards. They pre-approve you but refuse to shop for lower APR's. Car Max misleads shoppers by telling them they don't have the capability to shop for better APR r pre-approve you but refuse to shop for lower APR's. Car Max misleads shoppers by telling them they don't have the capability to shop for better APR rates. They are trying to force buyers into using their financing at 3-6 % higher APR rates to keep the money in house. Car prices are marked up as well. They run credit with no intent on using outside lenders to finance cars...instead they tell the buyer to contact lending sources that traditionally only deal with dealership. Lots of misinformation but when pressed they say they don't have the capability to shop for better APR's. Just another example of taking advantage of consumers during a difficulty time in our history !! More
we got there. I paid to ship the car so I demonstrated my commitment. Carmax had me wait even with an appointment. We then were pushed to wait outside in the rain and the salean showed up 30min later. I my commitment. Carmax had me wait even with an appointment. We then were pushed to wait outside in the rain and the salean showed up 30min later. Immediately noticed the cracked windshield and large gouge in the door. Not what was online and they shrugged and said they would do nothing. I paid to ship it but could not accept those terms. More
went a “traditional” dealership in town because we had went a “traditional” dealership in town because we had bought there before and thought somehow that was the best option. I knew I hated the way these went a “traditional” dealership in town because we had bought there before and thought somehow that was the best option. I knew I hated the way these dealerships sold cars, but like an idiot decided to try it again. Predictably, it was awful - lies, hidden fees, hours waiting for them to “talk to their manager”… I finally decided I had enough and walked out. SO glad I did. We found a couple of cars on Carmax.com that we liked and settled on one to have delivered to our local Carmax dealer. Katie from Carmax almost immediately called me and talked me through the car, going over details and ultimately helping me find a different car that we liked better. We arranged the delivery of that car, it cost $99 to deliver and she said it would take 7 days or less to arrive. In the meantime, she helped us ask questions about the car to the Carmax that had it and let us know what to expect of the rest of the process. That whole phone call took about an hour (most of it helping us find the exact car we wanted) with a few texts of follow up afterward. The car took less than 24 hours to ship and arrived at our local Carmax 24 hours after that. Katie kept us updated and helped us schedule a test drive and we were able to see it that evening. We had planned to test drive it overnight but once we saw it and test drove, we purchased. It was exactly as promised. They noticed it needed new tires so those were put on before we even did our test drive. The purchase process was quick and easy. We had done the financing application part on the phone call with Katie, so we knew the exact financing options we had (which stayed the same when we went to purchase) and the whole buying process in person took about 30 minutes start to finish. The longest we waited was after signing when they took the car to clean and detail (about 20 minutes) because it was a busy Friday night. Since we had the 30 day return option, we felt comfortable getting it before we took it to our mechanic. He checked it out the next morning and said it was a great car. Bottom line - I will NEVER buy from a “traditional” car dealer again. Every single interaction with Carmax was pleasant, quick and transparent. No games, no lies, no bait and switch. We knew exactly what we would pay and that never changed. The price of the car was comparable to others we saw like it elsewhere. The car we got was exactly as promised. Katie was awesome. The $99 transfer fee was reasonable to us because it meant we could purchase a car we liked and not have to drive to another state ourselves to get it. More
