Terrible experience with this company! Went online to get approved from them and reserved a truck from them, in hopes to pick up this vehicle the next day i was bummed to find out that the Went online to get approved from them and reserved a truck from them, in hopes to pick up this vehicle the next day i was bummed to find out that they sold the vehicle out from under us and our credit took a 75pt hit from them. We were then told that we had to rerun our credit to get approved on another vehicle and that it wouldn't affect the score, however that was a lie because my score dropped another 30 points for two more hits! I'm pissed at how they lie and treat customers like cattle. They only care about themselves and nothing else. I would never recommend them to anyone and they should be out of business. All in all we ended up getting a vehicle from Annapolis Subaru from Emily there and she was AMAZING , we were financed, the same day, she was thorough and very communicative and i felt very pleased with the experience I received as this is how it should have been. Buyer Beware of CarMax do not use them, their service was and is terrible in my opinion. The reviews everywhere online speak for themselves! The manager told me at Winchester, VA site he would be sure to personally call me and email me in regards to this issue. Stephen is also a liar as i never heard from the guy again , just blew me off and had zero FKS to give to me as a veteran of the USMC , he said, we take care of our military and service members, that was a lie. I cannot say enough bad things about his company. I purchased a vehicle in 2020 and since then I have had major problems and numerous recalls that they have not said anything about or sent any recal I purchased a vehicle in 2020 and since then I have had major problems and numerous recalls that they have not said anything about or sent any recall notifications out. 2018 Chevy equinox’s has had over 7 recalls on them and they have NEVER reached out. Not to mention the tactics they use. They want their money yet not willing to fix problems on vehicles. They sold me the car for 26,000 which I realized not too far later that it was WAY too much for it. They do not reach out and do not care about their customers More

My family has purchased 3 vehicles in the last 2 years and was very satisfied until my April 2023 purchase.I have reached out for assistance since 8/12/2023 and have not received adequate assistance thus far.Again I am pleading with you for your assistance and just want to have a resolution that is feasible. This is my latest email attempt at resolving this situation listed below . Hello, In regards to my recent complaint When I purchased the vehicle on March 3rd 2023 I drove off the lot ;I was on the highway driving and I heard wind like as if the car windows were open .I checked the windows and they were all closed . A couple days after that I went into carmax and spoke to the service department,I spoke to a woman In the service department and she advised that I had to make an appointment,so I made and appointment and the drop of day was weeks out .I made the appointment for April 4th 2023 which was the soonest appointment I could get. I dropped the vehicle off and advised the issues listed below . 1st drop of too the CArmax Service Dept. #1 The vehical slowed down to a complete stop 2 times and placed me in a very dangerous situation . #2 The radio /Bluetooth intermittently works there were 2 weekends or more that I operated the vehical without any music in the vehicle. #3 The sound of wind in the car when I was driving on the highway seemed the the drivers door was sealed unproperly. #4 Key issue ,when I approach the vehical with the key in my hand it sometimes opens the car and then sometimes doesn’t .I brought in both keys so that could be adjusted . #5 The vehicle at times would not go into drive from park. When I brought the vehicle in I thought all these things were gonna be fixed .I was advised that I would receive customer satisfaction and I was assured that all the issues were gonna be addressed. I was given a loaner vehicle which I used until the vehicle repairs were complete, which was a Nissan pathfinder I believe. After Picking up the vehicle, I realize that the door seal was fixed. I had to now start slam the door, though a little harder because another light was coming on the front screen in the car stating that the vehicle would roll back in red writing . The vehicle is continually slowing down, which I advised. In regards to the radio and the Bluetooth the day I picked it up the radio was operational and then it’s not working again. In regards to the key, it still works intermittently. The key battery was changed though on one of the keys so there is an issue in regards to the key connection In relation to the vehicle. In regards to the vehicle not going into Drive from Park that is the only thing that hasn’t happened again after the initial drop off. 2nd drop of too the Carmax Service Dept. When I brought the vehicle in, I didn’t make an appointment I went into the service department and basically begged the service attendant that helped me the first time to take the vehicle back. I pleaded with them that I was absolutely certain that the vehicle had these issues and they were not fixed and then the young lady that helped me spoke to the service manager and they gave me a loaner vehicle and said they would fix the car. Through a phone call a day after drop off is when I was advised that they would be sending the car to infinity. I was advised that infinity had a long wait time so it will be sometime until I got the vehicle back but I was reassured that The issues would be taken care of. Upon drop off, advised these things below. #1 vehicle was slowing down -I was advised that no error codes were coming up and I was very consistent with the fact that it happened on several occasions Since the time that I first dropped it off. #2 Car Radio/Bluetooth nonoperational - This was replaced and fixed by infinity #3 Auxiliary battery, ligh More

This dealership placed a car for sale with 5,484 miles on it. Just before I was handing over my check I noticed that the odometer actually had 56,000 miles on it. Do not purchase a car from CarMax. I want to start out by saying that the staff at CarMax are very nice and generally very well trained. All of the people I worked with at the store tried their best with the policies and situations that we are very nice and generally very well trained. All of the people I worked with at the store tried their best with the policies and situations that we were dealt. This review is STRICTLY of the corporation (KMX) and their policies and structure. I chose Carmax because when I spoke with customer service they said I could sell my car without a valid registration. I got a $41k offer on my car which was approved in-store in Wayne, NJ. After 90 minutes of our meeting, Carmax then refused to buy the car on the grounds of its lack of registration. I explained everything to them and management to no avail. I contacted the DMV and paid the registration. I called and told them I paid registration and asked if I could come in and sell the car now. They said yes. I come in and after another 90 minute meeting they then refused to buy the car because they claimed the registration fees were pending. Ok. I went home again. My offer lapsed to I had to create a new one. This time the offer was $40k, so I lost out on $1000 plus the $2000 in fees I didn't expect to pay in registration. At this point I still would have given a positive review. But when I came in a 3rd time to finally close after the fees process they refused to honor the $40 active offer and low-balled me at $38k. After two more hours in the store. At this point I had nowhere to put the car and the insurance was going to lapse so I took the loss and sold the car. I know. I probably could have told them to shove it. I'm an idiot. But I needed to be done with it. I was feeling this tightness in my chest and was feeling light headed and I just needed it to be over. I take responsibility to allowing them to get away with it. That said, you should know about my experience. At first it felt like everything happening must have been my fault but the way it ended with them pushing me back and refusing service and lowering the price over and over... it's very concerning. My brother in law had a similar experience with Carmax last year and he warned me but I didn't listen. If I were you I'd take the lower offer from Carvana and save yourself the hassle. My family and friends vouch for them. More
I love the concept… Who doesn’t want to look over an inventory of cars, all the while dodging the shady used car salesman. The prices seemed a touch high, but the quality seemed to be there. I found a car, made an agreement to pick up and buy, had them run my credit (and my wife’s ) got all the paperwork lined up, financing done… I was told I could come pick up in about 4 days, could be up to a week. Well a week a week goes by… turns out they sold the car to someone who walked in AFTER we made an agreement and got financed. They super apologized and admitted they screwed up, but they ran our credit reports and had a few others run reports, to get best offers. Dropped each of our credits 8-10 points, and no car to show for it. I saw a few other reviews stating sane thing, but thought it won’t happen to me. Well… they got me. Now I’m still looking for a car but credit scores are lower and have been told my rate will be higher. Lame. I wanted to believe it CarMax. I was excited to buy without a dealer, and could do so for all the kids getting Lic soon. Nope, back to the dealers looks like. Shady moves for these folks More
