Bought a car, day 1, leaves me stranded on the highway at midnight coming home from work. Clutch blew out. Takes 3 weeks to get a diag complete. Dragged their feet. Fought me on not only a full return but also the extended warranty i purchased. The car went out a second time, same issue, 2 weeks later. Again stranded on the same highway. I take it to another mechanic, they show the engine itself was faulty and the whole transmission had to be replace. Once again they fought me! Had to pay deductible because i couldn't afford to fight them too long. Clutch just went out A THIRD TIME in 2 years! Tried to apply my extended warranty. But they said it was no longer covered after 75k, which means i was only covered for 30k. When they specifically told me it was covered for 75k of my own driving. save yourself the heartbreak and stress. I'm only 25 and their car and customer service has made my hair gray! More

I purchased a 2016 Ford escape not knowing there was a rebuilt transmission because of my bad credit rating for helping others my monthly payments is ridiculous. The car already had 46,000 miles + a rebu rebuilt transmission because of my bad credit rating for helping others my monthly payments is ridiculous. The car already had 46,000 miles + a rebuilt transmission without my knowledge from the sales department. I feel the price tag was way too high considering the mileage and the rebuilt transmission. sold me a bad vehicle knowing it was issue sold me a vehicle with know transmission issue. put me off when called for appointment and then told me I went over the 4k miles warranty( was not whe sold me a vehicle with know transmission issue. put me off when called for appointment and then told me I went over the 4k miles warranty( was not when called) . found out that they knew because they had taken it to local dealership for transmission issue. told me 4800.00 to fix( ive had less than 30 days) When I pressed they refused to get me with higher level of management and said they would do for 2400.00. Ive been in automotive repair for 29 years - found out this is know issue for this model and that it only needs a torque conv. and fluid flush. They rip you off on price , stick you on the int. rate and then nail you with repair of a known issues prior to sale . another customer on the CarMax shuttle was having same issue with a Chevrolet that they stuck him with cost of known issue prior to sale. Contracts are POINTLESS ! BE CAREFULL !!! I bought a car 3 months ago thru CarMax autofinancing. 2 weeks ago i had a accident and my insurance company has stated car as total loss. They gave me 2 option, to keep the vehicle and to pay CarMax value of car before accident - salvage value = 3221$ Or they want pay to carmax 4500$+ and they keep the vehicle. I choosed the option 1. But talking with CarMax about a option to use that check of 3221$ to repair the car, they told me that if i want to keep the vehicle i have to pay 7000$+ (remaining balance of the lease) When i asked them where is that stated in the contract, that they are allowed to request full amount in upfront if i have any damages on car, they put me on hold for 1h30min and transfered me over 2 departments in that time. At the end i was talking with "supervisor" and she "explained me" that it is stated in their internal policy which is not available on their website neither do in my contract/paperwork that i got from them. She said that i never signed and never was awared of that, and i dont need to sign something like that but i cannot get access to my car if i dont pay 7000+$ in upfront. Now i have to hire the lawyer and to go on court with this company while my car is not in my possession and im still paying monthly rate for car and for insurance. Im using my car to work for UberEATS, DoorDash , PostMate. I cannot work , and i have to pay car in one week! Again, i never was awared that they are allowed to request payment in upfront remaining balance if i have ANY damages on the car, even if that is a total loss (i have already ordered parts to make car drive able) I NEVER SIGNED SOMETHING AS THAT, I NEVER WOULD! These information are not available ANYWHERE on the date 20. February 2020. ! I dont know how that can be legal ! Im considering this as heavy fraud ! ontracts about buying a car are long, but there is NEITHER THE ONE section talking about that they have law right to do this. I dont understand why they acted as this in my situation because i would keep paying my monthly rate and after my lease is over, title of the car would be mine as the car ofc. So it is not really matter for them in what condition car would be. But i cannot accept that there is some "INTERNAL POLICY" where customer is not awared of anything what is in there and it is affecting the whole contract that i have signed with them. Why we are signing the contract anyway ?? when they can write whatever they want in their "INTERNAL POLICY" More
Lied and sold car with recall. I asked about a specific recall. They said it was fixed. I bought a vehicle at Carmax in October, when test drove it the brakes squealed and the sales rep said surface rust, wiper blades were streaky- brand new he’s said, replaced 2 tires at inspection- both on t it the brakes squealed and the sales rep said surface rust, wiper blades were streaky- brand new he’s said, replaced 2 tires at inspection- both on the right side, left side were low on tread & dry rotting, and Christmas Day the car leaves me sit- dead battery. Didn’t stand behind 90 day warranty for any of it. I love the car but hate that I had to put more money into within 60 days. Never again More

He really was a very pleasant person to deal with, and I highly recommend this sales person. I wish we could have purchased the car from his dealership but ultimately we found a car elsewhere. We will definitely be back when another vehicle is required. More
Before you buy a car from CarMax make sure you take a good look at all 4 tire's. I just bought a 2016 Ford F150 7 days ago and had to buy 4 new tires because all tires had dry rott so bad that was not good look at all 4 tire's. I can't believe as big as CarMax is that they would sale anyone a vehicle with unsafe tires. Inside of truck was filty and oil had not been changed. Had to replace air filter because was so drity. Really CarMax can't spend $15.00 for a air filter? How cheap. Will NEVER buy or send NO ONE To CarMax. More
Bought a car from them. Won’t recommend to anyone We were in a desperate situation and needed a 2 nd car. They sold us a car with no heat and many other issues that we had to get fixed. When we reached out to them with our warranty they denied us for 6 times until they finally gave in. We ended up letting them reposes the car and were even charged for the pick up fee when the car wouldn’t even start. Do not buy a car from them!!!!! I regret it to this day! More
