DO NOT BUY A CAR AT CARMAX!! We paid cash for a VW Beetle for our daughter’s 16th birthday—the report the salesman showed it had been a rental car with no accidents. While we driving it to park it until her birthday, it was making a popping noise. We talked to CarMax, they told us to take it to a VW dealer for repair, and the dealer would bill CarMax directly. We got a call from the dealer saying they couldn’t fix it on the warranty because it had been in an accident. So we try to get another car from CarMax, no luck. On top of that, it’s going to take 2-3 weeks to get our money back. Our daughter’s birthday is next week and she has no car, and we don’t have the money to buy another one until we get the check. I know two other people that this happened to. By the way, the car we returned to them still says it’s accident free. More

I supposedly reserved and purchas July 10, 2020 SALES VISIT - USED "The MOST unprofessional organization I've ever encountered!" - Never Again! I supposedly reserved and purchased a 2013 Mercedes CL 550 only to be told that somebody else purchased it. How is that possible? Well, I will tell you how. The staff at CarMax-South Broadway in Littleton, Colorado, went into the system and deleted my reservation, profile, and financing application and sold the vehicle to another customer. To add insult to injury, CarMax staff (Zaira R.) had the nerve to contact me asking if I was willing to purchase another vehicle with a much larger price tag. You have to be joking! I will never do business with CarMax and I highly recommend anybody who reads this, to not give them your business, either. I honestly have never encountered anything like this in my life. More
Had a vehicle transferred to Carmax Easthaven CT. Test drove it and asked for service to check on an issue ( shaking when at a stoplight). Kept checking on the progress for a week and was told, "we are short handed but they would get to it". 1 wk later was on my way to purchase the vehicle, after being told "it all checked out", and was informed it had been sold today to someone else. The sales associate showed no concern, " I didn't sell it , someone else sold it" and he then immediately said I could transfer another car for you. Really , that is how to deal with a customer. They would not allow me to talk to a manager and obviously don't care about customer service. Do Not Buy From This CARMAX DEALERSHIP- EASTHAVEN CT. More
Don't buy any car from this dealership!! I bought a 2012 S550 with 35k miles. Right from start the car had transmission problem. I took it to Benz of monterey for repair. They paid for it. Six months later S550 with 35k miles. Right from start the car had transmission problem. I took it to Benz of monterey for repair. They paid for it. Six months later the engine light came up. I took to 3 different places no one could tell me why. I took back to Benz of monterey and technician told me found debris in the engine. It means the car had engine problems and was unsuccessfully repaired. It got so bad, that last year I bought 2016 S550 from Benz of monterey. They sold me a junk for $35k. Don't buy a car from this dealership!! More

Carmax did the financing and took care of everything to make sure that the deal is made. Everyone were so nice, I felt like I got a good deal and that I did business with a great company. Like The majority of the world, I too suffer financially from COVID-19 circumstances. I lost my company and my income. I had called Carmax asking for their help due to the situation. I offered to return the vehicle, since I just got it a few weeks ago. I offered to reduce the interest charges or the get some discount for the car, to be able to lower my monthly payments. To my surprise instead of helping me they said no to everything I suggested and are trying to make more profit on my expense. Each and every single solution I was offered involved me paying more money which does not help at all with the current situation. All creditors have been nothing but supportive with their clients during these tough times. All banks, credit card companies, even private lenders are doing the very best they can to assist their clients go through this pandemic. I must say I am amazed, insulted and I even feel humiliated somewhat. I feel bullied by the company that I trusted and did business with. A company who is trying to present itself as a company for the people. I now realize that Carmax is nothing but a coldhearted corporation who would do anything and would hurt anyone to make an extra dime. This is not the behavior of a community service driven company!
