Mixed reception After the high bar set in my first (and subsequent) interactions with the service personnel at Byers Toyota, I was more than a little disappointed in After the high bar set in my first (and subsequent) interactions with the service personnel at Byers Toyota, I was more than a little disappointed in this service encounter. On Saturday, 12/8, my 2010 Highlander Hybrid was towed, at my request, to Byers. When I arrived, I was greeted in less than an enthusiastic fashion. Perhaps it was b/c I interrupted Tony’s pizza lunch. There were several gaffs in his interactions with me (“what’s a good number to reach you?”; “You just looked me up by my number.” “Well, that could have been your sister’s or something.” “As soon as the tow truck driver gives us the keys...” “I just gave you the keys.” “ Oh, I meant as soon as the car gets here.” In my estimation, Tony did not seem interested in obtaining my information or business. Additionally, I shared some “hopeful” information (meant to allay my concerns, I’m fairly confident) that the tow truck driver provided. Both Tony and, to my chagrin, Daniel (during a subsequent telephone conversation), were disparaging and rather condescending regarding the tow truck driver’s opinion. Wow. How easy it would have been to state, “we’re going to see exactly what’s what before we conjecture on the cause of the malfunction” rather than dissing another individual. More
