He worked with me to patch the hole in my tire until we could get the desired tires in stock, since the ones I wanted were not available. Ethan was amazing, super understanding, talked me through my options, etc... the service here is incredible. However, cost of service is very high, so I ultimately will be going somewhere else for this service. More

The actual work was fine, but there was an effort to add over $1000 extra in unnecessary work. The car is only 3 years old. over $1000 extra in unnecessary work. The car is only 3 years old. More
LOVELY STAFF, BUT BEWARE THE MECHANICS IN THE SERVICE DEPT We're a two Subaru family and have been having all of our service work completed by Budd Baer Subaru for many years -- even though there is a DEPT We're a two Subaru family and have been having all of our service work completed by Budd Baer Subaru for many years -- even though there is a closer Subaru dealer in the South Hills. (Budd was a good friend of my great uncle. I've never met Budd, but we give him all of our business as a tribute to my uncle's friendship.) I've always taken great care of my cars and only trust dealership mechanics to perform service work -- because they see the same cars everyday and the service staff is typically much better trained. Unfortunately, since 2023, the service quality at Budd Baer has declined. Last year (2023) I dropped off my 2013 WRX (35k miles) for state inspection, annual wheel alignment, and a bunch of preventative maintenance. I ended up having to pay an extra $50 to repair my brake caliper because the mechanic broke off the bleeder valve while flushing the brake fluid. I was disappointed that I had to pay for this mechanic-caused damage, but it was the first issue I ever had with Budd Baer Subaru, so I didn't think much about it. Then this past week (08/2024), I dropped off my car for state inspection, annual wheel alignment, and a repair to the plastic wheel well liner. All of these things should have been fast, easy, and low risk. Unfortunately, those easy repairs turned into a cascade of damage to my car caused by the mechanic -- damaged lug nuts, a broken wheel stud, and broken brake caliper bolts. These are all things that happen when a mechanic doesn't use a torque wrench to put things back together. In summary, I brought my car in for $500 worth of work and ended up having to pay another $500 for damage caused by the mechanic. I'm an electrical & mechanical engineer that designs industrial robots for a living, so I know a bit about mechanical systems. I've been changing brakes on cars for decades now. I also swap my wheels twice a year to change between Summer and Winter tires. In the decades of doing this work, I've never had an issue with lug nuts; have never broken a wheel stud; and have never broken a caliper bolt. All this is to say that none of these issues should be regularly happening at a dealership. And most certainly, if a mechanic causes damage, I shouldn't have to pay for that damage. Sadly, I'm now on the hunt for a new Subie dealer :( More
