I chose to purchase at Bill Kolb Jr. Subaru after my family had told me what a pleasant experience they had when purchasing their Forester. I'm happy to say that my experience was equally as pleasant. I didn't feel pressured to buy a vehicle - in fact I felt very comfortable. Sonny Ripps was able to answer all of my questions and even answered ones that I didn't think to ask. He was very knowledgeable and clear which was helpful as I am keen on details and this was my first time purchasing a car. Bill Kolb Jr. had the best selection of new and used cars than any of the other Subaru dealerships I visited. The day I picked up my Legacy, Sonny walked me through every inch of the car explaining all of the functions and icons. I really appreciated that he took his time to make sure I was comfortable and confident. I couldn't speak highly enough about this dealership! My family and I plan on going back to Bill Kolb Jr. for all of our future Subaru purchases. More
Our experience at Subaru was the most positive experience that we have ever had at a dealership! We had the pleasure of working with Howard Bonfield, who was heaven-sent! Howard is SUCH a nice guy that he se that we have ever had at a dealership! We had the pleasure of working with Howard Bonfield, who was heaven-sent! Howard is SUCH a nice guy that he set the tone for our entire experience! We knew we were going to buy a car after he showed such sincerity (being nice still goes a long way)! The first thing that impressed us with Howard was that he gathered all the information he could about us (why we were at Subaru, our inital thoughts about Subaru, our family information and our budget). We never felt pressured from Howard to buy a car and his soft-spoken manner was greatly appreciated. Howard was well-informed, not only about Subaru, but he seemed to know EVERYTHING about our car. He was patient with us, even when we made last-minute decisions regarding the financing of our car. Our next car will be a Subaru...and we hope that Howard is still there to sell it to us! We left there not only satisfied but educated about our purchase. The added touch was the check-in phone call I received two days after we made our purchase! Howard is OUR salesman as far as we are concerned! More
This is actually our "2nd" Subaru that we purchased from Howard at Bill Kolb Subaru! The first car was a used 2012 Impreza, with 2,000 miles on it. (We were told it was a Dealer car.) Y purchased from Howard at Bill Kolb Subaru! The first car was a used 2012 Impreza, with 2,000 miles on it. (We were told it was a Dealer car.) You can imagine our shock when, turning the wheel, we saw metal shavings from behind the steering wheel, only to discover 3 drill holes in the column! I immediately went into the dealer to find out what was going on... 5 people came out to look and see, and could not explain the situation?! They offered to replace the cover? (Why not the whole steering column?!) We took advantage of the 30 day return policy, at first, we were questioned by one of the managers "WHY?" - since they were going to replace the cover. (We felt the cover wasn't enough). We just felt uncomfortable with no explanations, etc. - The 2nd transaction was smooth, so much so, that it seemed to go faster than the first! We highly recommend Howard as a sales agent, as he really knows his product and stock (believe me, this is important, we went to a Toyota dealership that had us waiting more than 15 mins and couldn't tell us how many Hybrids they had in stock!). Family members suggested test driving a Subaru just to feel the difference, the minute behind the wheel we could tell a Subaru was for us. They suggested going to Howard, as he assisted them in their purchases (yes plural) and I can see why. We are certain that, without Howard's attention to detail, the second transaction would not have been smooth, and we were VERY grateful! We would also like to thank Paul, the finance manager, as he also helped us get the right financing and suggested the extras that would work for us and, more importantly, the car! UPDATE 2/24/2014 WHEN PURCHASING THE CAR, WE WERE ASKED FOR OUR PHONE NUMBER AND EMAIL ADDRESS, WE WERE HESITANT AS WE VERY RARELY GIVE THIS INFORMATION OUT AND WERE INFORMED BY SEVERAL EMPLOYEES THAT "SUBARU DOES NOT SHARE INFORMATION". AFTER OWNING THE CAR FOR LESS THAN 2 MONTHS, WE RECEIVED SEVERAL EMAILS TO COMPLETE SURVEYS, NOT COMING FROM SUBARU - BUT TWO OTHER COMPANIES?! THESE EMAILS ASKED FOR PERSONAL INFORMATION! (ONE FROM VEHICLE VOICE TRYING TO ENTICE US TO FILL IN THE INFORMATION BY OFFERING A CHANCE TO WIN $500!) IN ADDITION, WE RECEIVED A FEW PHONE CALLS. TRYING TO DO DAMAGE CONTROL, I SPOKE WITH MARYANN KOLB... SHE WAS VERY RUDE AND ACTUALLY HUNG UP !! GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE - I SO APPRECIATED SPENDING OVER 23K TO GET HUNG UP ON! I WILL CERTAINLY BE TELLING MY FAMILY MEMBERS OF THIS EXPERIENCE, AND EXPRESS CAUTION TO THOSE LOOKING TO BUY... DON'T SHARE YOUR INFORMATION... DON'T BELIEVE WHAT YOU ARE TOLD... IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM AFTER THE SALE... IT WILL GET NASTY AND UGLY! I was asked to provide information with the assurance (from 3 staff members) that "Subaru does not share information". I was SHOCKED that you did not believe that your staff asked for this information!!... You own the company and don't you know what information your employees request?? What about my witness...my partner. Is he lying too? I did not end the conversation, YOU DID Mrs. Kolb - you had the last say and HUNG UP! If what you say is true ("Subaru does not share information"), please provide all of us with a great explanation as to how Subaru Corporate received and distributed my information? What are the chances that these outside companies found out my name, knew the type of car purchased and discovered my email address all in one month? Not through the DMV - they don't have access to email address! Here's a SPOILER ALERT... It's a slim chance, since I used my other-half's email address when I purchased the car! Bottom line, Subaru shared my information with outside companies. This was also confirmed with Kevin Shumaker of your Subaru Customer Relations. In addition, Subaru of America has it as a requirement for your company to report an email address! Again, as an owner, how could you not know this? I would like to go on record that I never stated that your Sales Manager was rude. I will state that you and your Controller, Mary Spect, were BOTH rude. There is big difference between "Subaru" and "Bill Kolb Subaru". When I brought this to your Controllers attention, I did not appreciate being told that I "was putting words in her mouth." "Subaru" and "Bill Kolb Subaru" does NOT know what these other companies will do with this information, regardless of any agreement they may or may not have with those companies. The damage is done, my information WAS shared, despite what I was verbally told. ...Please Maryann, share with everyone the "something" that I didn't want to hear! UPDATE June 2, 2014 Although I was told that my email address had been removed from all records, I received another survey today! I would appreciate a great explanation why I am STILL receiving emails! UPDATE Per Mary Ann Kolb's response on February 24th: "We take pride in safe-guarding your personal information to the highest level of our ability. I have removed your email address and all other information from our records per your request. " I would, again, greatly appreciate knowing how I received an automated call from Bill Kolb Subaru if all of my information was removed? More
Howard was very helpful in helping me choose the right car. He patiently allowed me to look around while making suggestions on models that would fit me the best. We just had a great experience with this dealership whilst buying a new Forester XT. We were taken care of by Howard Bonfield and he was an absolute rock star! He had all the information we needed about the car and was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. He managed the whole process from dealing with our trade-in and our requirements with aplomb. In all honesty, buying a new car isn't something we were especially looking forward to doing but both the dealership and Howard especially made the whole thing quite painless and rather pleasurable. So much so that we plan to have our new Subaru serviced at Bill Kolb going forward, it's a little further out than where we use now but they've won our business. More

My daughter bought a used Subaru here and had a good experience so I decided to try them even though there are two Subaru dealers closer to my house. It is one of the few car dealers that really doesn' experience so I decided to try them even though there are two Subaru dealers closer to my house. It is one of the few car dealers that really doesn't play games with customers. I left feeling that I got a fair price and didn't have to endure any of the high pressure sales tactics I've had at other dealers. Highly recommended. More

This December she turned 80 and she needed a new car, so I started to look around for dealerships around Tarrytown and see if I could hook Mom up with a surprise new Subaru for her big birthday. I emailed Bill Kolb Jr. Subaru and Howard responded right away.... Cant tell you just how helpful he was in making the surprise such a success for Mom.. He gave me lots of options and I had Mom go out to the dealership meet Howard, take a test drive. I made Howard promise not to mention ANY thing about money to Mom, he could only discuss money with me, and he kept his part of the deal and than some. Howard went to extra mile to make sure Mom was happy and we couldn't be more pleased with Bill Kolb Jr. Subaru and Howard.
