This was my first time buying a used car from a deale Avoid this place because they have no problem with lying to you and mislead you to make a sale. This was my first time buying a used car from a dealer, I wanted to get a decent german car, & thought to myself I can get a nice car if I go with a used car, and I can eliminate the risk of expensive breakdowns if I get a warranty from a dealer. The only mistake I made was assuming they would do business with me fairly, and not actually blatantly lie to me since they are a legitimate business and not a shady guy on craigslist, I was very wrong. I bought a BMW for well over $30,000 that was advertised in good condition and accident free, and priced as such when I looked up the price to see if what they were asking for is fair on KBB. When I came to inspect the vehicle, I noticed it had many cosmetic problems, which looked to me as minor because I have never worked on a car before. The car had few scratches on multiple sides, scratched rims, a broken reflector, and a crooked exhaust. They said they just bought the car and they will have it ready for me in a couple of days. I liked the car so I did not mind driving from Syracuse again for it. I came back on the agreed upon day to sign and pick up, only to find out the car was just washed from the outside with about 10% of the work done. It was the last day of the year, and they said the shop was busy at that time. Jerod Cassidy made the false promise to me that Auction Direct would fix all the cosmetic problems if I buy it now and bring it back later when the repair shop has better availability. I thought they were just rushing to get it in the books for that year, they seemed trustworthy to me, and that was so naïve. I was willing to work with them because I was excited about buying the car, and they used that against me; Jerod said they would not only fix the car, but also fill my tank with gas for making the trip from Syracuse. I got busy with work after the new year and couldn’t drive all the way from Syracuse to drop the car off before the 1,000 mile return mark. When I brought the car to get it fixed I was shocked to find the exhaust was not fixed. Jerod said that the previous owner must have ran over something and it dented the exhaust pipe from the bottom, and that the General Manager Alan Friedman did not allow him to get the exhaust fixed, because it would cost over $2,000! I said what about the promise you made to fix all cosmetic problems? He said that he cant do anything about it, he is just a “sales man”! (As if that is a good reason to lie!) He said he will have Alan call me on Monday to work something out with me. It was dark when I made it after work to pick up the car, so I did not notice they did not fix all the scratches, nor the scratched rims. They did not even fill the car with gas, but that was not my biggest concern. Alan never called on Monday, I waited a few days and called, it was tough to reach him, but I eventually did speak with him. His response was: “since the exhaust is functioning and has been functioning as designed I cannot replace the pipe for you for purely aesthetic purposes. I am sure this is not the answer you wanted to hear but that is my only choice regarding this matter.” I don’t know if there are rules to use the term accident free, but I cant understand how a car that ran over something and caused $2,000 in damage is accident free! At the end I got a valuable lesson to be more cautious with sales people, but I still cant be in piece with the fact that they made so many lies to me with no shame. They treated me horribly, did not have any regard for my time, and lied to me over and over. I hope this helps other honest hard working people that just want to do business fairly, don’t let them trick you to take your hard earned money. More
