Found a few interesting cars, and decided to find ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Simply walked in to look through their pre-owned inventory. Found a few interesting cars, and decided to find out more info about the car. The car that I was looking at was a Lexus RX 350. Front and rear bumpers repainted, obviously nothing mentioned on carfax.... or by the dealer. Ok, so I ask the guy... What does it cost? So he tells me that I need to come inside for that.... alright I go along with it. He starts asking me a million questions, and asking me for my personal info. I refused to give him anything besides my name and phone number.... He gets offended. He starts asking me how I would pay for the car and what is my credit history like. I tell him nothing.... so I ask him, what in the world does that have to do with how much the car costs? He cannot tell me the answer.... I get up and start leaving.... He names a ridiculous price... I am walking out.... the price drops by a grand.... I laugh and continue to walk out... the price drops even more! I honestly dont understand how dealerships such as these stay in business..... More
My father and I went to purchase a new car from Advantage Toyota in Lynbrook, NY on 12/26/2009, which included the trade in of a used 1999 Nissan Quest. The terms of the deal were negotiated with a salesman and we were told that we would be purchasing a 2010 Corolla LE with Bluetooth capability for a price of $16,200. Then, after I left to attend to other business, my father was told by one of the managers that he would not be getting the car for the agreed upon price. All of the paperwork which my father had already signed was torn up in front of him and my father was ready to walk out of the dealership when they said they would sell the same car to him for an additional $374, bringing the total cost to $16,574, to which my father agreed. The salesman and manager did not tell my father that the car he was signing up to purchase did not have the Bluetooth capability, realizing that doing so could potentially ruin the deal, and instead tried to take advantage of the fact that my father did not know what the Bluetooth feature was or how to identify whether or not the car had the feature. My father purchased the car under the assumption that it had the Bluetooth capability and only realized that the car did not have the feature on Sunday 12/27/2009, when I made him aware of the fact. I went to discuss the problem directly with the dealership on Monday 12/28/2009, and after speaking with various people, including the salesman who denied any knowledge of the bait and switch, I was finally forced to talk to a manager. He denied any wrong doing on his part or any member of the staff at the dealership and told me that my father agreed to buy the car without Bluetooth. He suggested that I return later with my father to discuss exactly how the deal went down after I left, stating that it was likely that my father was “confused.” My father and I returned to the dealership at 5 pm and again were forced to sit down to discuss the transaction. My father had already filed a complaint directly with Toyota and they suggested that we speak with the customer services rep at the dealership. When we requested the opportunity to speak with her, we were denied by the manager and rest of the staff, who had begun to collect in a group around the area we were sitting. My father stated that the salesman did not notify him of the fact that the car we were purchasing did not have the Bluetooth capability. If he had known that the car did not come with Bluetooth, he would not have purchased the car for the price of $16,574. The manager called the salesman over and asked him if he told my father about the removal of the feature from the deal, to which he claimed that he did. My father said that was a blatant lie to which the manager responded by saying that all that could be done now is to put the Bluetooth feature in for a fee. I said that we did not want to install the feature into a car that was not originally programmed with Bluetooth, and we would either want a car with Bluetooth already installed as formerly agreed upon or cancellation of the deal and return of our van. I told him if he could not do either of those things for us, we would call our credit card company and dispute the deposit made for purchase of the car and also file a complaint with the Office of Consumer Affairs. To this, the manager responded by saying that my father had signed all the paperwork and there is nothing we could do about it. At that point I also stated that I would tell everyone I knew about what they had done to us and to this the manager got in my face and threatened me with his staff behind him. They told us to get out and feeling that the situation was getting out of hand, we decided to leave and take the situation up elsewhere. Upon returning home, my father called Toyota again and filed another complaint about what had just taken place at the dealership and to ask if they would be willing to help us. They said they could not and that we would have to try to find another avenue to resolve the dispute. To anyone considering doing business with these people, PLEASE BEWARE. More
