I've been with Smythe Volvo since 1991 and have over thirty years experience in the automotive industry. The best part about working at Smythe Volvo is the local business feel of the company. Knowing almost every customer who walks into the shop is a great feeling. My favorite Volvo of all time was the C30. It was a small, fast and super-fun 2 door hatchback with a turbo 5 cylinder engine. When not at Smythe Volvo, you can find me kayaking or fishing somewhere in New Jersey.

We live in New Jersey and were in the market for a couple of cars. We decided to go with Volvo for its obvious reasons. The next thing to do was find the right dealership so after a few visits and doing so of cars. We decided to go with Volvo for its obvious reasons. The next thing to do was find the right dealership so after a few visits and doing some homework we chose Smythe Volvo in Summit, NJ. Without writing a novel, if we could sum up our experiences, Smythe Volvo has become like an extended part of our family. There is always some apprehension when walking into a dealership. One reason would be the bombardment of a high pressured sales team. You will certainly not be stalked like a vultures next meal here at Smythe. The moment we walked into the show room we were greeted by a very courteous and knowledgeable sales associate Chris Henricksen. Chris superseded all of our expectations. He by far has raised the bar and is exemplary in his profession. The best sales associate we have ever worked with! He knows these vehicles extremely well. Buyers don’t have to settle at Smythe. Chris makes choosing options fun and will hold your hand through the ordering process. We had extreme pleasure conducting business with him. Our relationship with Chris did not end after the sale. Chris Henricksen keeps the line of communication open checking in from time to time providing us with updates and to listen should we have any concerns. Servicing our vehicle was just as easy and hassle free. We were introduced to Tony Plesh. Another Smythe Wonder!!! Calling him to set up service appointments are very easy. We always have a loaned vehicle to take home for those longer appointments. Tony is a marvel. His expertise in knowing these vehicles in and out is too, exemplary. We are at ease when we think there is a problem because he knows the remedy. Tony knows how to ease your concerns! Tony Plesh also provides us with service updates and specials. A great service to remind us customers to take the time out and get our vehicles checked right. More

Although I purchased my used '08 Volvo at a Lexus dealership, and both Steve and Craig of the sales staff understood I would not be buying from Smythe, they were generous with time and advice and gen dealership, and both Steve and Craig of the sales staff understood I would not be buying from Smythe, they were generous with time and advice and genuinely friendly and helpful both before I made the purchase and afterward in checking me out on the vehicle. In the service department, Tom Coward assisted me when I realized that there was only one day left on the car's existing new car warranty, and made sure I was treated just as if I had bought the car at Smythe. Subsequently, when the Lexus dealer was duplicitous regarding service they had promised but not performed, Tom, Doug, and Sean were very helpful in making sure that the work was completed and my vehicle was safe and in the best possible condition. Throughout some 6 or 7 visits in the space of only a couple of weeks, when others might have tired of a visitor who was not intending and did not buy from them and then turned out to be at the end of his warranty period, all of these gentlemen were unfailingly warm and helpful at all times. If I purchase a new Volvo in the future, their kindness and professionalism will surely bring me back to Smythe. More

I called with a problem and my car was promptly and throughly evaluated in a mannner which engenders trust in my vehicle and in the dealership. Great dealership. No pressure, no hassles. Have rolled 9 new cars in about 12 years & will pickup number 10 in a few weeks. Obviously I have good reasons to keep going back. I purchased my first Volvo from Smythe. And it was the first of many satisfying experiences. I kept the first Volvo for more than 20 years and always had it serviced at Smythe. They kept it running i first of many satisfying experiences. I kept the first Volvo for more than 20 years and always had it serviced at Smythe. They kept it running in top notched condition for in excess of 500 thousand miles. The service was always excellent and the team of mechanics were dependable, reliable, informative and very professional and above all, always courteous. My second, third and fourth Volvo I also purchased from Smythe, all three were serviced at Smythe. I have had a total of 5 Volvos—1979 DL, 1988 240, 1994 940, 2000 S80, 2006 S80, all of which were serviced at Smythe. I still own three of the five (the 1988, 2000 an the 2006) with 500, 200, and 66 thousand miles respectively. Infrequently, I have had at least one of the Volvos I owned serviced at other Volvo dealerships, but for some reason I always feel the need to go back to Smythe, probably because of the quality of work and the attentiveness of the Team of mechanics at Smythe—I feel that I can unquestionably depend on them to do the highest quality work the first time around—and that has always been the case for the last 30 years or more of my experience with them. I have never been dissatisfied or unhappy with the quality of work performed at Smythe. And mainly because of the friendliness and quality of work produce by the Volvo Team—Sean, Kevin, Nick, Tony, Doug, Tom, Gary and all the floor mechanics, I have and will continue to very highly recommend Smythe Volvo to anyone who plans to purchase or have a Volvo serviced.
