Had an appointment to have my brakes checked an alignment at 1 PM. I got there at 12:30. However, they weren’t ready to check me out until 4:30 pm same day. I went to the service desk numerous t alignment at 1 PM. I got there at 12:30. However, they weren’t ready to check me out until 4:30 pm same day. I went to the service desk numerous times only to be told I’d be another 45 minutes. They suggested that I would need four new tires. They showed me a sale if you buy three get one free. I asked if I would have to pay for an alignment and was told no if you buy and install the tires here. When I went to check out, I was charged $85 for the alignment, plus the Cost for the tires, an additional hundred dollars to install them. I felt they weren’t forthcoming about the alignment fee which originally was told not applicable if new tires were installed and the additional hundred dollars to install the tires. Also, when I asked why did it take so long they responded with “we had to go get the tires we did not have them in stock”. At no other time when I went up to the service desk throughout the day did they mention they had to go get the tires. I really don’t mind paying for things if I am told up front and I don’t mind waiting. However, I just felt that I was taken advantage of and mis-informed. Makes me question their motive? Or was this the old “she’s a woman” scenario- take advantage of her?????? Not sure. More

Beware of Russ Darrow Madison service department! They installed a lift on my Jeep Wrangler JK. They told me I couldn’t use my stock rear track bar with the lift, so they installed a new one (and, of They installed a lift on my Jeep Wrangler JK. They told me I couldn’t use my stock rear track bar with the lift, so they installed a new one (and, of course, charged me for this extra part). The track bar literally fell off as I was driving home from the dealer and caused me to lose control while on the interstate. Thankfully, I was OK and the Jeep was OK. Russ Darrow paid for a tow, and they reattached the track bar that fell off. I investigated further because the track bar they installed just didn’t look right and I was petrified of it falling off again… We called the track bar manufacturer, and they said the installed track bar was for the JL model and should never be used on a JK. Russ Darrow manager said, yes, we know but a JL track bar is fine on a JK. We called another Jeep dealer that confirmed that JL parts should not be used on a JK. We took the Jeep to another service shop, and they put the stock track bar back on without issue – the same one that Russ Darrow said couldn’t work. Also, when we removed the JL track bar, there was no evidence of Loctite that the Russ Darrow mechanic claimed to use. Management was generally helpful, and they reimbursed me for the cost of the track bar; the memo on the check gave the reimbursement reason as customer was dissatisfied with part – the real reason was they removed a stock part that didn’t need replacing and put on the wrong part that didn’t fit properly and, thus, fell off and could have caused a major accident. So, as a matter of safety, I would steer clear of this service department that unnecessarily replaces stock parts and doesn’t understand that different Jeep models require different parts. More
