I bought a 2021 Tesla Model 3 (my dream car) from - bhandtke
I bought a 2021 Tesla Model 3 (my dream car) from carvana. Looked online and believed I had found the perfect option with Carvana as it had all the features I was looking for and seemed like a pretty good deal. The purchase went incredibly smoothly and I was excited to get it delivered the following week. The day of the delivery, my delivery driver called me to verify what I would need for the apt. Due to my delivery time (at night), I asked my driver if we should move the drop off location to a well lit parking lot so we could go over the car in detail to ensure everything was as listed on the site. My driver assured me that would not be necessary as carvana would cover any issues I found over the next 7 days during my “7day test drive”. I was hesitant to believe this, but he reassured me that we were “on a recorded line” and ANY issues would be covered. Later that evening the truck showed up with my Tesla in tow. After doing an amazing job of unloading it off the truck, he let me take it for a spin around the block. Once back, I mentioned a couple things I had noticed about the car. One was the fact that the previous owner had left an unpaid charge on the car that I was going to be on the line for. The second was what looked like a possible rock chip in the windshield but I could not tell how bad it was as it was too dark. Knowing that my driver told me I could take pictures of any damage over the next 7 days and report it made me feel at ease though. The rest of the delivery process went smoothly. The next morning I decided to take the car to the wash to get a clean look at it. As it was a very cold winter morning, I was excited to make use of the Tesla’s advertised heated steering wheel. (When I say advertised, it was one of the “key features”of the car. Carvana even highlighted the steering wheel in photos telling potential buyers how much they would love the heated steering wheel). After about 20 minutes of trying to figure out how to turn it on in my driveway, I realized it in fact did not have one. This was a huge bummer as it was one of the big reasons I chose THIS Tesla. After the wash I was able to assess the windshield. There were two large rock chips in the center of the windshield, and one of them was spiderwebbing out about half an inch on either side. After walking around the car, I noticed that the rear hatch of the vehicle was sitting noticeably higher than the roof frame ( about an inch). I immediately jumped on carvana’s website to speak with an advocate. Within one minute of letting them know about the issues, they told me that the windshield would have been covered by their warranty, but since the delivery driver didn’t take any pictures or list it at the time of delivery, they would do nothing about it. After going back and forth about having talked to the driver about it, they still told me I would have to just make an insurance claim. Just what I wanted say one of owning a “new” car, my insurance to go up and be out a $500.00 deductible. Regarding the heated steering wheel, the advocate said they would have to look and see if my “claim of it being listed” on the website was true. After verifying it was, they then came up with the excuse that it was listed on the car, but the vehicle was “priced without it”. During the entire conversation they continued to tell me that if I wasn’t satisfied with the car, I was welcome to return it. But they clearly know no one wants to lose out on their expensive delivery cost that the company takes from you if you return a car. The only repair they would consider looking into was the rear hatch of the car. This took over 6 days of calling carvana and being told someone would call me back and ultimately resulted in them saying it would not be covered. Would never do business with them again.
