Un-ethical, Deceptive practices I am in the market for the new VW GTI. Over the weekend I saw a very attractive advertised pricing on the Autobarn VW Mt.Prorspect dealer website as I am in the market for the new VW GTI. Over the weekend I saw a very attractive advertised pricing on the Autobarn VW Mt.Prorspect dealer website as well as numerous other search engine websites. I am not the one to spend hours at the dealer negotiating, so I figure that I will e-mail the dealer confirm the price and purchase the vehicle. Well, to my surprise the advertised price is not what it was seems to be. After my e-mail to the dealer I found out that the price went up by $2000 or 10% of the original advertised price. I was told that there is a disclaimer that account for rebates (i.e., military, VW employee and or college graduate). Majority of the people do not qualify for these incentives, so why would they advertise the low price? Answer: To get you in to the show room and waste your time in hopes that you will still buy a car from them. This review is to alert the folks like me to not bite on the phony advertisement ask question prior to setting the foot at this dealership. I would hope that there are other more ethical dealerships in the area that do not practice these deceptive methods. Hope this review helps. More
