Because I was going to be in a hurry to return home that morning, I arrived at Volkswagen Santa Monica five minutes before Service opened. In two minutes Odell came out and asked if he could get me started early. He estimated I'd be waiting about two hours. Instead he came to get me less than one hour later and my car was done! What a gem. This is the 8th VW I've driven in my life - six of which I was gotten from VW Santa Monica. My highest recommendation!! Thank you Odell!! More
Luke is the man! Took my 2016 GTI in for it's annual service yesterday. Had a 7:45am appointment with Luke Young. He came right out to meet me and asked me what was going on with the car. He was very friendly, easy to talk to and knowledgeable. I explained that there were a few issues that I was hoping they could look at in addition to the annual service: 1) the entertainment center had been rebooting itself randomly pretty much every day for the past month or so 2) the coolant light came on last week and I was wondering if I needed to have the cooling system serviced 3) the fuel gauge always drops about an 1/8th of a tank shortly after refueling He explained what the annual service included and also thoroughly discussed the above 3 issues and what the possible causes might be and made notes so that the technician would be sure to investigate. For the entertainment system, he said that I was the 4th vehicle that morning that had that problem and that the dealership was aware of it, but VW America hadn't acknowledged it yet so there was no official recall or service notice for it. The dealership had put together a questionnaire to help them collect data on all the cases that came in to document all the incidents. He said that normal schedule for the cooling system service is 50,000 miles (my car has < 19,000) so that I probably didn't need it yet, but they would inspect the system and top off the fluids. For the fuel gauge issue, since it primarily occurs right after refueling, he suggested making another appointment and topping off right before bringing the car in so that the technician could drive it around and witness it firsthand to be able to diagnose/resolve that problem. He also told me that there was a recall service for the sunroof and that they would take care of that while the car was in the shop. The car was ready well within the promised window and is running great. I bought my car from this dealership and this is the 3rd time I've taken it there for service but this is the first time I left feeling like I had found 'the' service adviser for my car. I hope the dealership can retain Luke as he will certainly have many opportunities in the future. More

Made a tough day better I had an emergency so I couldn't drop off my car at the appointment time. They held open a new time at 11:00 which I did make in a panic. I bought one from SMVW in 2012 and another from them this year, 2017. Their service is unparalleled! So is their hospitality. I probably should have been a VW salesperson, but teaching was a great profession. I hear terrible stories of people who get their cars serviced, only to still have problems. That never happens to me at SMVW. They care about my cars and me. They NEVER try to sell me service I don't need. I trust them, and I recommend them. They also give great deals on their new cars. Go to SMVW for great sales & service! More
