We leased a new car from this dealership, thus far we are disappointed over all. Our salesperson Mark Shapiro is top notch! Quite frankly, if it were not for Mr. Shapiro, we probably would not have purchased a VW to begin with, as we were coming off two Audi's and not certain we wanted to step down to the VW, however, the Tiguan was a great value and very nice at the price point and we like the car a lot. The problems we experienced were as follows: the car was missing the second key at time of pickup. The dealership could not find it in house. Mr. Shapiro had to order a key. We were told by the dealership that when it came in to make an appointment and it would take approximately 30 minutes to program. We made the appointment, arrived 20 minutes early, to be told it would take 1.5 - 2 hrs. to program the key, because they were busy. A woman named Gabriella helped me, asked for someone to write the order and the service person she spoke with had a bit of an attitude, in front of me the customer. After that she handed it off and I could not get anyone to push the car through, as I had taken off work and only had an hour (given what I had been told). I went and got our salesman and he could not get the car moved through in less than 2 hours, so I had to leave. I had to reschedule for a Saturday in order to dedicate the time, without taking off work for such minor service. Since this was the fault of the dealership to begin with, one would think they would have made an exception and pushed the car through while I was waiting at my scheduled appointment time! If this were the only problem, then so be it, but it was not. Upon delivery, I picked up the car on time as scheduled, met with our nice salesman, who was embarrassed to see that the car had not been properly cleaned. The inside was dusty, the dash was dusty, there were black scuff marks on the running board inside, there was some minor bird poop on the paint, etc. Basically it just want not clean enough to hand over to a new customer. We had to wait 30 minutes for the car to be cleaned. This should have been done before we arrived for our appointment, not discovered at the time the car was being turned over. I was told by our salesman that there was a rubber cargo mat available for purchase to protect the back from our large shedding dog. The parts department told me they did not a make rubber cargo mat and that the mats they sold were carpet with rubber backing (these actually came with the car, so he didn't even connect those dots). This was not what we wanted. Our nice salesman again, looked it up on line, printed the page that showed the rubber mat. I took that to the parts department and not only did they sell them, they had them in stock at the dealership. Literally, every turn with this dealership has been a confusing disappointment. Clearly, this is a VW, not an Audi, but the difference between the service one gets at both dealerships is like night and day. ADDENDUM: as of 7/30/12 all problems have been taken care of by the dealership & the sales manager. We hope for a positive experience for the duration of this lease and do not wish to be difficult in order to have problems solved as they should be. All things considered, we will can say we are now satisfied with this dealership and hope that things run along smoothly from now on, especially if a problem arises. We judge a dealership on the entire experience, not just the car and the price point. We turn our cars in (3 in the family) every 3 years, so we have loyalty to the dealerships we use, if they are deserving of it. More

It can be a little nerve wracking buying a new car, Melvante eased all of our worries by not only saying he would get us the best but by actually getting us the best deal. He's fantastic! I got top value for my trade in and upgrades on the vehicle I purchased. Most important to me, I did not have to do any haggling back and forth. Melvante gave me the best deal upfront and I was out of the dealer in no time with my new vehicle. The vehicle came with a full tank of gas and was freshly detailed by the dealer. This is a good dealership, but their PRICES ARE TOO HIGH. The offered my $369 a month including tax and $0 down and $0 drive off, and they told me this is a price of a jetta for a passat. But I left the dealership and I went to about 3 other dealers at the end I got a Passat SEL with nav and sunroof (this car is about $8000 more) for $327 at another dealer in LA. At the end If you want to buy a car or lease one and you want to get a good deal don't get the car on ur first visit to the dealer ship go shop around and get quote and bargain. More

Artem is professional, efficient, straight forward, helpful, and not pushy at all. He responded to emails quickly and made an awesome deal on a Passat TDI with my wife. The whole purchasing process is quick and relaxing from the beginning of a test drive to the final point of signing the contract. The finance department is awesome too, especially Billy Rinker. He introduced several optional extended warranty packages available in addition to the monthly base rate, and yet it was up to my wife's decision whether she wanted it (and finally she purchased one package after she decided that she could afford $80 extra per month). Before my wife and I went to Santa Monica VW, I expected the whole car buying process to be long and painful given that we would have to deal with pushy sales people, back and forth negotiations and multiple visits to dealerships. Artem of Santa Monica VW Internet Department has done a great job and my wife is happy with her Passat. She brought the Passat back after she found out that there was some glue on the hood. Again, Artem was helpful and set up schedule for my wife and took care of the problem in less than 30 minutes. More

Excellent Service Department at Volkswagen Santa Monica. I've been coming here the past 2-3 years since leasing my 2010 CC and consistently receive professional and courteous customer service. This morning I've been coming here the past 2-3 years since leasing my 2010 CC and consistently receive professional and courteous customer service. This morning, I stopped in because of a issue with my tail light. I was greeted promptly and then introduced to my Service Consultant, Peyman Kahen. Peyman diagnosed the issue as a burnt light bulb, replaced the bulb at no charge, and had me out the door in less than five minutes. Would absolutely recommend the Service Department at Volkswagen Santa Monica. More
