My wife and I were very pleased with the experience that we had in purchasing our new Pilot from Pohanka Honda in Fredericksburg. From the first telephone conversation that I had with Wes, it was clear that we had in purchasing our new Pilot from Pohanka Honda in Fredericksburg. From the first telephone conversation that I had with Wes, it was clear that he was committed to making sure that we got exactly what we wanted in a new vehicle. As I worked with him to identify the right car, he was always honest and informative. On the day that we went to pick up the car, Kevin walked us through all of the paperwork and made the process a breeze! This was the sixth car that I’ve purchased and this experience was by far the most pleasant. More
I went to dealership as recommended by the USAA auto purchase program. After being paired up with Joey L, I learned that the color CRV I was interested in was not available - Joey L was instrumental in purchase program. After being paired up with Joey L, I learned that the color CRV I was interested in was not available - Joey L was instrumental in getting me in an alternative vehicle for a test drive and he facilitated my purchase of that vehicle and the trade in of my 2002 Acura RSX. Joey L. was committed to our customer satisfaction with the entire sale - I highly commend his thoroughness and friendly demeanor. Also of note is BJ Brooks who made the financial/paperwork end of the transaction as painless as possible - he was quite knowledgeable and efficient. This is my fourth experience with the Pohanks Group and am confident that when my next auto need arises, I will return to them. Thanks. More
I've had the pleasure of dealing with Pohanka Honda of Fredericksburg since their beginning in 1998 – first at their Jefferson Davis Highway dealership, and now at their mega-star dealership at I-95 and E Fredericksburg since their beginning in 1998 – first at their Jefferson Davis Highway dealership, and now at their mega-star dealership at I-95 and Exit 133. My experience with their sales and service staff has been nothing less than outstanding. In particular, I’ve been fortunate to have my vintage (1985) Civic Wagon serviced for all of its needs. There’s something to be said for a dealership when their cross section of mechanics can service a broad range of requirements for both vintage and new vehicles alike. Pohanka Honda has always taken the extra step for my cars service needs, especially when difficult-to-find vintage parts have been ordered. My newer Accords (1998 and 2005) were purchased, and have continuously been serviced by Pohanka Honda. Honda’s reputation is second to known when it comes to customer service, durability, and reliability. Nonetheless, Honda vehicles require service and maintenance, and Pohanka Honda has proven to me that they’re the best in central Virginia for both sales and service. Thanks to Pohanka Honda of Fredericksburg for providing me with the best of sales and service throughout the years. j.w. 04/10/2010 More
Bill was recommended to us by a Honda Service Manager because of his honesty, integrity and because he is also a "nice guy." We were 100% pleased with our total car-buying experience with Bill. Both were outstanding! More
Wes was really great. Told me up front all costs I would have before I even came to him, and no surprises once I got there. Was able to leave with a new car in a few hours. Went through USAA's non-haggle pr have before I even came to him, and no surprises once I got there. Was able to leave with a new car in a few hours. Went through USAA's non-haggle price and this worked better than I could have hoped for. Also Wes was much more professional than any other dealer that I contacted. Very respectful and honest. Will definitely recommend him and Ponhanka Honda to anyone interested in buying a Honda! More
I helped my mother buy a new Civic LX-S from this dealership. First, I took her there (which was out of town for her) because my husband and I were just "browsing" one night, and Jay came out to gre dealership. First, I took her there (which was out of town for her) because my husband and I were just "browsing" one night, and Jay came out to greet us and KNOWING we were only browsing, still took the time to answer all our questions and offer us any assistance we might need. Once I took my Mom up there, she told me that she felt very comfortable with Jay and was impressed that he did not talk down to us because we were two "ladies", like some car salesmen have been known to do. But what really amazed us was that Jay and Pohanka offered us the best deal right up front. We called around to area dealers for comparason, and no other dealer even offered to match the price, let alone beat it. We were treated with friendliness and consideration from start to finish. Probably the best car buying experience I have ever had. When it comes time for me to upgrade my own car, I will definitely see Jay and Pohanka again! More
OUTSTANDING! I am a USAA member, as are my parents and OUTSTANDING! I am a USAA member, as are my parents and grandparents. So, without question, my wife and I trust USAA implicitly. I used their Car OUTSTANDING! I am a USAA member, as are my parents and grandparents. So, without question, my wife and I trust USAA implicitly. I used their Car Buying Service and I used their financing. It was a very easy process to take my USAA Financing "Golden Ticket" to get our new car. We bought the 2010 HONDA CIVIC LX-S in Royal Blue, which a beautiful color, by the way. About My Experience To start, I went to look at the car in a dealership that competes with Pohanka, located in my home town, Bethesda, Maryland. I saw that I liked it and researched it at length online. Once I decided on the LX-S, the "sport package," I went on USAA to get the price and the financing. It was a very easy and smooth process. USAA really is a WONDERFUL outfit! With my quote and financing in hand, I went to this Bethesda dealer to get their quote, as they are not affiliated with USAA's Car Buying Service, as is Pohanka. I was able to test drive the LX-S, at length. I really enjoyed the car, having driven a very wide variety of vehicles, to include UPS trucks, sports cars, etc, I knew what I was looking for and was happy with the LX-S (for the price). Then it came time for the HARD SELL! They asked me how they could earn my business. I told them I would have to have my wife test drive the car, so it was not happening that day. Then they wanted to know where she was so she could come in right away. I told them there was no way. So then they pitched Honda Financing. I told them I was not interested because I had my financing in hand. Then I showed them how they could earn my business. I showed them the quote USAA provided for the Pohanka car, and they essentially laughed me out of their office! They said there was NO WAY Pohanka could make this price, there had to be something else going on. They showed me printed e-mails that were supposedly USAA customers going to Pohanka and getting shafted who then went to their dealership and were treated like Kings! I thought that was kind of dirty. It almost made me feel as though even if they could meet the price, I did not want my money going to the guys playing dirty like that. Then they went on and on about how all dealers get their cars from the same place and at the same price and that this USAA quote was essentially Bravo Sierra! (This was the sales manager telling me this!) So, I called Pohanka and Makis Hodge answered the phone. We talked for about 30 minutes about the car and my experience at the Bethesda dealer, and he told me that the USAA quote was real and even if I wrote a check for the amount he quoted me (including price, 6% Maryland sales tax, and the $399 processing fee) and left my check book at home, I would not need a new check. He said that because he deals in volume, he can make that price work for him. So, then I dealt with Kevin Carter, who was wonderful. Although I feel bad, because at one point I kind of snapped at him when he kept asking me about Honda financing. My wife is a general manager in retail, so I know how important it is to a company for customers to use their store credit card. But I told him it would kill the deal if he kept mentioning it because I already had my financing. And Kevin never mentioned it again. He is a very good salesman, he took me seriously as a customer and I sincerely appreciate his service. I would definitely ask for him, were I to buy another Honda and I would definitely refer him, by name, to friends and family. I would for Makis, too. There was one problem though. I had no ride to Fredericksburg. So, Makis, on his own, drove my car to the Pohanka Acura dealership in Chantilly, only a $25 cab ride from the Vienna/Fairfax metro station on the Orange Line, and it was waiting for me this morning. I walked in, signed the papers, and I was on my way! Kevin and Makis went out of their way and bent over backwards for me to make this sale happen in a very short time! USAA did too, their insurance department was very responsive and helpful and did everything we needed from them in about ten minutes. I am absolutely, unconditionally satisfied with Kevin and Makis, and Pohanka in general and I will return and give them my business again and refer my family and friends. They are kind of a hike from Bethesda, but it was only a one time trip for me. So I am perfectly satisfied! As for the Bethesda dealer, I went back with my new car and showed them (the two guys who had laughed at me) the car and the yellow slip that showed the cost breakdown. They couldn’t believe it! After they called in to question whether Pohanka had sold me a lemon and that was why they could make the low price, they congratulated me on finding the great price that they had straight up refused to make. Look at the ratings, they speak for themselves. And thank you for reading my really long review! More
Kenny was wonderful to work with. We purchased a 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour from him. I have a 2009 Honda Accord. In late February 2010 I took my car in for an oil change and tire rotation, and was informed my rear brakes needed to be replaced soon. At this point I had only owned the car 11 my car in for an oil change and tire rotation, and was informed my rear brakes needed to be replaced soon. At this point I had only owned the car 11 months and had 24,000 miles on it, how could this be. The service consultant came up with some excuses, mainly that I must be hard on my brakes and this is normal for brakes to wearout at this mileage. I then asked how the front brakes were and he said they were great still had 80% life left. I then said I thought you told me my driving wore out rear brakes, so how could the front brakes be in such good condition? He had no answer. I left thinking that all I had heard about Honda quality was crap and that I owned a car that was going to be nothing but head aches! The dealer wanted $300.00 to fix the rear brakes, only after 1 year of ownership, what was this car going to cost me to maintain opver its life time? I called the dealer a few days later, after talking with a mechanic at another shop and he said that the rear brake wear was not normal, and got another b.s. story. I then researched this rear brake problem on line and low and behold there was page after page of info on the 2008/09 accords and a major problem with premature rear brake wear, including a class action lawsuit on the rear brake problem. I called Pohanka Honda service on the evening of 3/29/2010 because my brakewear sensor was now making noise and I still got the runaround, even when I informed the service consultant of the info I found on the internet. I showe up at the Pohanka service dept. on the morning of 3/30/10 pissed off. Enter Kenny Burke, a true professional. He greeted me at my car and could see I was not happy. He listened to me rant and he remained calm and in turn calmed me down. Kenny didn't give me any B.S., we had a great conversation about the rear brake issue on tha accords and he took care of me and my car. He gave me back the cofidence I had lost in Honda service. He is a true asset to your company, If only the other cosultants were like him, honest and interested in solving the customers concerns. Honda would have lost a new customer, me, if it weren't for Kenny Burke of Pohanka Honda. This brake problem is out ther on the internet now and I hope Honda steps up to fix the problem, unlike Toyota! Honda has a chance to rectify this problem now and I hope they dont try to B.S. there way thru it. More
Kenny Wolter is a great representative for Pohanka. He bent over backwards during the infamous snow storm of 2010 to make certain we had the best possible experience in buying our new 2010 Insight.
