I started dealing with MB of Thousand Oaks via email and phone. Once we had agreed on the car and price, I was told that the car will be in soon. Once the car was there I went in to do the paperwork. The deal was set for a particular car with certain options and price. Prior to going in to the finance department, I sat down with the internet manager and went over the deal while they were prepping the car for delivery. After going to finance it finally came time to see the car and take it home. Here is where the issue is. It is not about the cost but principal. The car we had talked about all along with the options and price had a rear trunk spoiler. However, this car did not. The paperwork had already been signed and when I asked the internet sales person why the car did not have the one option we had talked about, he said “well, it is only $250”. I realize the cost is not significant but when we had talked all along about the price it did include this option. The car that I purchased was not the car we had talked about from day one and even when they said they found it and it was coming off the delivery ship, I was never told that it did not have all the options as agreed upon. I got my Jaguar from Marian Dailey in 2009 after scouting the market across dealers from San diego to Santa Barbara. This time i went only to Marian for my E350. She is the antithesis of what a 'car-salesman' stereotype is. Does not push but provides a great opinion when you ask her. Knows the business inside out. I feel that i can trust her completly because she is never trying to do anything that is not in your best interest. Not that she is a pushover - she is probably the most astute negotiator i have come across, without ever appearing to be negotiating. I do not refer sales people to friends and familiy because each person has a unique way of dealing with the sales person. But with Marian and T.O. I have no hesitation in sticking my neck out. Its a good thing that Marian has been with T.O. for so long and is likely to stay there, because i am certain that her customers will seek her out and follow her wherever she goes. PS- I worked out the whole deal over email/phone and only went in to pick up the car. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. made the trip from Santa Monica, totally worth it!! More
