Bought my car last January, and the experience then was great! (mind you I test drove 6 different brand luxury vehicles before deciding on Mercedes) Fast forward a year later (this week) when I came in great! (mind you I test drove 6 different brand luxury vehicles before deciding on Mercedes) Fast forward a year later (this week) when I came in for my scheduled FIRST service experience. I had scheduled my first oil change (I had put less than 7K miles on the car in the year) and it needed an inspection. I was greeted nicely, the waiting lounge was being cleaned, complimentary beverages were nice. (They have the best hot cocoa!) I was called over to the service rep pretty quickly. When I sat down I noticed a small sign off to the right on his desk - I was Super Surprised that a luxury car dealership charges 3 percent for using a credit card. Seriously, how much cash does one carry around with them? Was told that the car was due for Service B. (It was a used vehicle in excellent condition and only little under 12K miles when I purchased it) Asked what Service B entailed since I was coming in for an oil change and inspection I was told all these different things they would do to it under the Service B code that was showing up on my car. IT was $ 910 plus tax! I was floored. He told me that the Service A was done at 10K miles (so just before I purchased it). I told him I had only put little over 6K on it since I got in in a year and really just wanted to go with the oil change and inspection. Of course he tried to upsell me on wipers and other options, but I just told him what wanted. Agreed and I went and sat down again in the lounge. Okay...so then I get a video a while later from someone doing the service to the vehicle. I watched it, and it was primarily talking about my tires. It was showing me that two of my tires (front) were fine (some number they said) and the two in the back he RECOMMENDED changing out. I then texted the number back from the video text and asked if I can get a quote on two new tires. I also went up to the "front desk" of the service area and confirmed that they knew I wanted that quote. A little while later, the same Service employee who told me about the "plans" came over and told me that they did not have the Cooper tires in stock to replace what I have on the vehicle now but they could do it with another brand named tire. I asked for the price quote and was given one, which was reasonable, but then asked how long it would take (already been there for over 90 minutes) he said another hour...I couldn't wait any longer and said I would call and order them at another time because I was out of time to wait. He said Okay no problem. NOW - bring me up when the car is ready (got there at 7:30 - this now 10 am) Sat down to pay the bill - he put it in front of me...I read it before signing and noticed that the INSPECTION had FAILED. I was SHOCKED. I asked why did they fail the inspection. He said the back two tires failed. I said HOLD ON A MINUTE - at NO time in our conversations about tire replacement OR at no time in the VIDEO sent to me did ANYONE say that in order to pass inspection the car needed to have two tires replaced! The video said RECOMMENDED. At this point, I was looking at a bill for over $ 400 and the only thing done was the oil change!!! I said to him - why didn't anyone tell me that the car failed inspection without the tires being replaced. He said, he thought the video from the other guy doing the inspection would have said that. I said NOPE it does not. I also said - I can't believe that these tires you sold me on this vehicle a year ago, when I only put a little over 6K miles in a year were that bad. And now why would I replace it with the same xxxxy tires that wont even last me 20K miles! He really had no words. I was very disappointed in the entire experience. Got in the vehicle, outside was washed - inside never vacuumed. Thought that was part of the service (at least my email said so). Not the best first service experience. More
