Old School Dealership that just wanted to waste your time This dealership is only about 5 min away from my house and i wanted to test drive an F150 Raptor. I arrived and was greeted by a gentleman named Mike This dealership is only about 5 min away from my house and i wanted to test drive an F150 Raptor. I arrived and was greeted by a gentleman named Mike who grabbed keys for an F150 Raptor and we went on a quick test drive. I let him know i probably wouldnt be purchasing until end of year and got his info. After looking over some finances etc i determined i could potentially make the purchase now rather than later. I called the dealership and asked if they were a costco dealership and they were. I then asked if the Raptor is excluded from costco and I was told that typically yes unless they have a lot of them. They happen to have 33 in stock, which is the most in the entire country (according to Mike). I asked Mike if they could give me a costco deal on a raptor since they had so many and he told me i needed to come in and meet the owner. The times that the owner was there were tight, and i agreed to a time that was inconvenient for me and my family but convenient for the owner. My appointment was for 5pm today and we got there at about 4:50pm with both of our kids. Mike greeted me and then proceeded to try to juggle me and another customer. After about half an hour he brought out a credit application and ran away again. I started filling it out and when he came back i asked why am i filling out a credit application? He said to see what kind of payment he could get me. Keep in mind this is on a truck that they have marked $15,000 over MSRP! and have 33 in stock. At this point i became pretty frustrated and reiterated our earlier conversation that i was supposed to meet the owner to see if he would let me have a costco deal on a raptor (a costco deal on a raptor is typically MSRP or even below). He tells me the owner left at 4:45 and that "no one" can give me that deal...awesome... I left and told him he wasted my family's time. He ended up chasing us out front like it's the 1990's old school car buying style and trying to get me to come back in even though he admitted he still couldnt even sell me the truck at MSRP. I honestly do have another dealership that is a 2 hour drive that will sell me one at MSRP but i have to order it and wait 2 months. I will wait the 2 months and drive the 2 hours to save $15,000. I've purchased a lot of vehicles in my life and this short experience was easily the worst and least professional. Mind you i also worked at 2 car dealerships in college, so I've seen a lot. More
Rips off military. Want a good deal, go elsewhere Its no wonder why this dealership is rated a 1.7 stars. This place should be shutdown for ripping off our members of the military. My friend came Its no wonder why this dealership is rated a 1.7 stars. This place should be shutdown for ripping off our members of the military. My friend came to me last night after buying his 17 Ford Focus ST1 (BASE MODEL). He traded his 14 Focus ST and accumulated between down payment and overage after payoff of his car with 5800.00 down. 28k + after fees/taxes/reg etc. They led him to believe he got a great deal on this when they didn't even take a single penny off the sticker on this car! These things sell constantly for between 18-22k. My friend called them back and spoke to the finance manager that wrote up his paperwork. The guy was condescending going over the payment breakdown and not addressing the fact that he charged way over what the invoice on this car should be. The car has bad fog lenses which have condensation inside them, there's imperfections in the paint and deep scratches in the intake. Considering my friend is military, these guys should have taken care of him. Instead, they completely ripped him off on the price of the car. They got him a great interest rate, but it was definitely countered by the extra 8k dollar mark up. I highly suggest that you look elsewhere if you want to buy a car. ESPECIALLY military. To these people, it doesn't matter that you serve. Before his 5800.00 down payment, they had him at 34k to be financed. For a base model ST that is highway robbery! More

Customer service after you buy is the worst I bought a brand new Ford Focus ST black. There was a scratch in the driver door and I pointed it out to the salesman when I was buying the car. He s I bought a brand new Ford Focus ST black. There was a scratch in the driver door and I pointed it out to the salesman when I was buying the car. He said they would gladly take care of it just contact our customer service manager and she will take care of it. Let me say this that manger is the worst very rude as well could careless about fixing the scratch. A week went by and still no call or nothing from them ( you would think that after buying a car for 30k they would help) so I texted the salesman and he said I will let her know you should get a call in day or so another week goes by finally I get a call same lady the worst and they just would not help me cause I live far away and cant get it there and leave it she says I will let you know when we can help. Well that never happened finally I get the ccs survey and just hammer them and get a call 1 day later offing to fix it now I basically sent email stating the only way you would fix it is if I complain what kind of service is that never got a response by them at all after the email. THIS DEALERSHIP DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU AFTER YOU BUY YOUR CAR THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER DO NOT GO THERE More
Never again, I mean never Below is a letter I had to write the Better Business Bureau on Ken Grody Ford Carlsbad. DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THESE GUYS. The salesmen are ok, but Below is a letter I had to write the Better Business Bureau on Ken Grody Ford Carlsbad. DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THESE GUYS. The salesmen are ok, but the SERVICE DEPARTMENT ARE HORRIBLE. They don't care about you or your family driving around in a car due to leaks, on a 20,000 mile car. It's under warranty they said. My son isn't under warranty... Dear Ford Motors: First, I would like to thank you for your service in leasing my 2015 Ford Transit Connect wagon. For the most part, my family and I enjoyed the time in our wagon, but unfortunately, the service received from Ken Grody Ford in Carlsbad, California was the reason my family and I turned it in early, as the wagon was deemed unsafe. Since leasing, I had noticed that oil was collection at the top of the filter housing, relatively quickly. I had cleaned it off and noticed that the wire loom above the housing always was wet. I had brought it up to the service 3 times beginning on or around July 2016. My service representative informed me they cleaned it up and I was told to monitor the lead, which I did. Unfortunately, it came right back. The next time I was in for service, I mentioned it again, and was told the technician had cleaned it all up really well with brake cleaner and was told to monitor again, which I did. This time, when I got home, I decided to look underneath for myself. Being an "amateur" mechanic and growing up in a family of mechanics, I wanted to take a look for myself. Upon removing the fabric dust cover from below the wagon, I was shocked to see oil everywhere, not just fresh oil, but much of it "baked" on to the transmission, lower engine, and lower body panels. I have included pictures for you as well, that were taken upon first glance. This was completely unacceptable. The next day, I received an email from Customer Service in which I replied and expressed my displeasure and was searching for help. Thinking I was corresponding with a real person (I found out later I wasn't) I had waited for a reply back. A couple days later, the service manager did take my wagon back in and fixed the issue. I was provided a rental car while the work was being done. At this point, I knew I couldn't trust Ford or the workmanship that stood behind the brand. I had pre-paid for my service and was completely appalled that and ASE certified technician would allow a vehicle that was blowing oil out of there bay without properly diagnosing the issue, and after seeing it for 3 times if not more by this point, as I don't know if the leak started at mile 1 or mile 20,000. Also, one of the technicians I was talking to about the issue, stated "Well, you have a warranty, and this is covered, so don't worry about it". This is true, I do have a warranty, but unfortunately I don't have a warranty for my only son. If something was to happen to him due to negligent service, I honestly don't know how I would handle it. Luckily, I found out in time before anything may have happened to him. I've worked in the healthcare industry for 27 years now, and it had me thinking, would I say that to a patient? "Surgery went well sir, but we left some of the clamps and instruments inside your abdomen, and noticed a small blood leak in your aorta, but it's ok, you have insurance, we can take care of it". I understand that is extreme, but we are all in the business of customer service, and unfortunately, Ken Grody Ford failed miserably. This is why I terminated my lease with Ford. I had contacted the fleet service manager, Mr. Chris Boduc, via email asking about the issue and received nothing back. I went and purchased another vehicle as soon as possible and returned the wagon to Ken Grody Ford. I will happily pay the $909.89 left in my lease, but I will be filing 3 Better Business Bureau complaints in hopes for a resolution. They will all state the above. I would simply like restitution of the money I will be paying ($909.89) for a car that was unsafe to drive. As stated, I really enjoyed the wagon, but unfortunately I cannot trust the service. I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, David S. Chapman More

Walked in with a pre-approval from my credit union, but they insisted they could better. Well after a 2 hour wait they came back and said they beat the rate with Ford Motor Credit and were able to tack on all the extended service plans. I was ok as my payment was where I wanted it. Long story short, they sent the deal back to my credit union at a higher interest rate anyways. When I called, they acted like they did me a favor by sending it there telling me I wasn't approved in the first place. Why waste people's time and credit that way? Lastly, they never gave me plates and I am still waiting for them. More
Sold truck that died after leaving dealership Bought used F150, after being assured there were no issues or recalls, the truck died after purchase 25.8 miles in a busy intersection. The truck sho Bought used F150, after being assured there were no issues or recalls, the truck died after purchase 25.8 miles in a busy intersection. The truck shook and stalled. We were told it was bad gas, spring/winter blend of gas and or water got into air intake after truck was washed. They would not cancel sale of truck after we expressed our concerns. Then they claimed the throttle casing was replaced and unknown to me, they delivered the unwanted truck to my home. They also refuse to send me the repair paperwork done on the truck. More

My wife and I are getting read Ken Grody Ford in Carlsbad was truly Awesome! My visit here was such a noteworthy one that I just needed to share it. My wife and I are getting ready to go into retirement and travel the U.S. and needed to buy a truck to pull our 5th Wheel trailer, so we went into Ken Grody Ford in Carlsbad. We ended up getting exactly what we were looking for which was a brand new Ford F-250 Lariat Crew Cab 4X4 (diesel) and couldn't be more pleased. Every aspect of our experience at this dealership was an incredible. From the moment we arrived at the dealership we could feel the difference. Ian Schoenberger was our Sales Consultant and his friendly, pleasant demeanor instantly put us at ease. He was extremely professional and had an extensive background and knowledge of trucks, there towing capacities, capabilities and limitations. His vast experience in this area coupled his understanding of the vehicles we were interested in was exceedingly beneficial to us and helped us greatly in making the right vehicle selection for our needs. There was No Sales Hype, No Pressure, just a true willingness and desire to educate and help us in any way possible; it was really a breath of fresh air! During our visit we also had the very distinct pleasure of meeting and getting to know the Co-Owner and Vice President of Ken Grody Ford, Kurt Maletych. This guy is the Genuine Article! Over and above being one of the nicest people you would ever want to meet, he also has a true desire and real commitment in making sure ALL of his customers have the absolute best Car/Truck buying experience possible. I've been to several other dealerships in San Diego and none of them are even in the same league with this guy! (When was the last time you were at a dealership and the owner walks over and greets you and spends time with you?) The specific truck we were looking for wasn't readily available at his dealership, so he took a personal interest in our quest to help us find it. After an exhaustive search, that was no small undertaking, he was able to find a truck with the specific color combination we desired, the options and appointments we were looking and had it for us in just a couple of days. "He" made it happen! Ken Grody Ford exceeded our expectations in every way possible! Thank You Kurt and your entire Staff; You guys are Amazing! Tim & Sylvia F More
