We are sorry that you ended up paying more than you would have preferred. When you first brought your car in we found that there was only one code known as “lean running” that caused your check engine light to come on. Normally, a simple cleanup takes care of this type of problem within a vehicle. To perform the cleanup we first replaced a damaged intake hose, cleaned the mass air flow sensor and performed a fuel injection flush. Two months later, the vehicle was brought for a second time claiming that the same code was setting off the check engine light. We ran the codes and found that it was the catalytic converter that was setting the check engine light off this time. Upon further diagnosis we found that the front catalytic converter was not performing as it should. The front catalytic converter was replaced at this time because of malfunctions. We also let you know at this time that the rear catalytic converter may have future issues, but at the present moment it was functioning. Unfortunately, a month later the same code was set off because of the rear catalytic converter. We did all of the labor for free on this replacement and we are sorry for the frustration this caused on your behalf. In hind sight, both catalytic converters should have been replaced at the second visit. We are truly sorry for any additional burden this may have caused you. We hope to be able to work with you in the future to identify your problems and help you get safely back on the road.

Karl Malone Toyota responded

On behalf of Karl Malone Toyota, we are sorry that your experience was not the process you envisioned. We do our best to make sure our customers receive a price that works for their pocketbook. It is our standard to remain competitive in our pricing and work with customers as they search for the best vehicle. To provide a little clarity to this situation, it is important for you and future customers of Karl Malone Toyota to know that some the accusations you made are false. Our sales manager never put a price for your vehicle in writing for the price you desired. We worked with you to provide a competitive price in comparison with other dealers, but the price you were willing to pay was significantly under the price of what we originally paid for the vehicle. Because of this ordeal, we were unable to come to an agreement. We are sorry that you did not find what you were searching for. We wish you the best of luck in your future car buying process.
