Was able to work the majority of the deal over the phone, since I knew John would only preset options that I really wanted. The staff and everyone there was terrific. We got a fairly good deal on our used car, but we didn't like the way the salesman included the taxes and fees in the total cost to try to confuse the negotiations. We had to constantly be recalculating and subtracting the extras that they were throwing into the mix to make sure we knew what the actual cost of the car was. They probably thought they could confuse us by lumping all the costs together so we wouldn't know what we were actually paying for the car. We were told the our car was a one-owner car, but when we got the paperwork, we found out that wasn't true. We're still happy with the car, but we didn't appreciate being misled. I guess that's just to be expected when buying used cars. More
I purchased a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 from Mr. Champer and before purchasing the truck it was noted that only one key chain remote was with the car and he was sure that obtaining another one would be "no prob before purchasing the truck it was noted that only one key chain remote was with the car and he was sure that obtaining another one would be "no problem." This is where things kinda go south, it was agreed when one was obtained it would be mailed to me. the bad part about that is the fact that Mr. Champer forgot about it entirely, but once i was able to contact him the dialog went a little better. Now i'm irritated that for whatever reason GMC discontinued the part number for my truck key remote. Frankly the truck is just barely over 10 years old. I will give Mr. Champer much credit where it's due, in making a serious effort to try and track down either an after market one or something. Am i overall happy with my experience no. Was it an honest mistake that he didn't know that particular truck and clicker wouldn't be available in tandem, possibly. This will probably never happen to another customer and i'm probably the just that one fluke one that no one ever expects. I do hope that the open dialog that i've had with Mr. Champer continues and this is all figured out in the long run, because i would like to refer customers that go out of their way to make sure the customer is happy. i would also like to note that i have two friends that work at other GM dealerships that are looking into this entire situation. i did find out that the key chain i have that came with it is not the correct one that was issued by the manufacturer, could this be the entire issue? hopefully i'll find out UPDATE: so i'm honestly probably more angry then i've ever been. the fact that at this point Mr. Champer has refused to contact me anymore. which is fine but then to have a good friend of mine come out with a TECH 2 which i know Mr. Champer could have accessed to program the remote he had gotten only to find out that the key lock system remote does not and will not work with my truck. so i have two choices give up entirely or go out and had an after market installed. at this point Jack Maxton and Mr Champer are now on my black list. i will also be very sure to tell everyone that they should not go there period. it's not worth the time and hassle dealing with people who obviously do not know what they are doing. What can I say....I hate the car buying experience. I dread it every time I walk through the doors of a dealer. This time was completely different. I found the Trailblazer that I wanted on their very detailed website, emailed in my credit app, and an hour later Donna called me to tell me that I was approved. It took all of about 20 minutes from beginning to end on my paperwork, and I was in and out of the dealership in under 30 minutes total. I was so impressed, I bought another vehicle 2 days later for my wife, and received the exact same service once again. Bravo to you Jack Maxton, and bravo to you, Donna and Lynn, as well. You have earned a customer for life. More
First off, I really dislike buying a vehicle because the sales people are so often full of bull and I usually know more about the car than they do. I had an idea as to the the type of vehicle I wanted and, after checking on the internet, found something close at Jack Maxton. Although the distance was a consideration (they're in Ohio and I'm in South Carolina), I decided to call. I spoke with John Spivey and discussed the vehicle they had. I also told him that I had a trade-in. He was very forthright and patient. He wanted to discuss the approximate numbers with his sales manager and would call me back. Within a few minutes, he called and we agreed for me to drive to Ohio to see his car and he could then evaluate mine for trade. The visit was excellent....he answered my questions on his vehicle and we took a test drive and his folks looked at my car. He said that the amount we discussed over the phone was good and I wrote him a check for the difference. It was an enjoyable transaction. Since then, I've had several questions about the car and he's always be most helpful. I would recommend Jack Maxton Chevy and John Spivey without reservation. John Mitchell More
We purchased this used vehicle for my teenage son. When we took delivery of the vehicle the low fuel light was on and my son was driving the vehicle home. Therefore, my son called me 2 blocks from the deal we took delivery of the vehicle the low fuel light was on and my son was driving the vehicle home. Therefore, my son called me 2 blocks from the dealership stating he had to stop for gas. In my opinion the dealership should have put fuel in the vehicle prior to us taking delivery. The vehicle did not have an owner's manual-when brought to the salesman's attention he stated it would be ordered and mailed to our home. More
