Bought a new battery for my 6 year old Forester at an auto parts store. After they installed it the check engine light was on. They couldn’t clear the code and told me to drive 50 miles and the computer auto parts store. After they installed it the check engine light was on. They couldn’t clear the code and told me to drive 50 miles and the computer should reset. It didn’t. Drove to Hendrick Subaru Southpoint service. Jeff Thomas looked at the car and noticed there was no power to the code reader! Jeff opened the hood and found a 7.5 amp fuse blown. There was a spare in the fuse box so he restored power to the reader and cleared the check engine light. He made sure all the windows were operating properly and reset the clock to the correct time. “What do I owe?” Jeff said “no charge, I’ve seen this before.” Above and beyond service at Hendrick. Something simple turned into an all day thing. Should have gone to Hendrick instead of the auto parts store. Live and learn. More
I purchased a car from this dealership in Feb of 2023. When I purchased the car, we were told that we were the first owners (the car had been a fleet vehicle) and that there were no accidents. The carfax attached to the car at the dealership also said there were no accidents. I went to sell the car today because I no longer need it and the new dealership showed me the carfax that lists an accident on the car from the first owner on 12/23/22. This dealership also showed us that the paint job was different and that there was clear evidence of a repair. When I spoke to Hendrick they told me that there was no accident and that even if there was an accident it wouldn't impact the value of the car either when we bought it or when we tried to sell it. Rather than try to remedy the issue, the person I spoke just dismissed me, told me that I was just trying to get more money than it's worth (the car is worth what I asked for), and that I didn't understand how value and cost are different. I am so disappointed in this shady experience and Hendrick's complete lack of accountability and interest in helping fix the problem. Buyer beware. More
