BOUCHER LINCOLN AND MOLD… For your health and safety, and that of your family, please read this review! My name is Dr. Richard Salm. I am a dentist in Brookfield, WI and own the dental practice “Smiles Fo that of your family, please read this review! My name is Dr. Richard Salm. I am a dentist in Brookfield, WI and own the dental practice “Smiles For Miles Family Dentistry”. As a business owner, I do not take lightly the fact that I am leaving a negative review about another local business. However, for the past three months, Lincoln Boucher has put the health of my family at significant risk. At this point, I have confirmed that Boucher sold me a vehicle with mold in the ventilation system and they refuse to fix it. I hope that my review helps you to protect your children better than I have been able to protect mine. In June 2024, I purchased a lightly used certified pre-owned Lincoln Navigator. The following day, I noticed a strong smell of VINEGAR emitting through the air vents. I immediately informed Boucher Lincoln and continued to inform them of this daily problem over the following three months as they tried to resolve it unsuccessfully three times! I did some research, and learned that if there is mold in the air box, the only way to resolve the issue is to take everything apart to completely remove or clean it… A process that takes approximately 20 hours! Boucher claimed that they could not reproduce the odor, and therefore completed three minor treatments that of course would not address the obvious problem... MOLD in the air box. I constantly felt like I was getting the run-around and they made me feel like I was the problem. In reality, the diagnosis is quite obvious, but not a problem that is cheap to fix. Being that Boucher refused to addess this problem seriously, I took a sample from the air vent. Please see the attached photos of the result... Thriving MOLD CULTURES. At this point, I would have thought that they couldn't deny the source of the odor. Shockingly, they still would not agree and after after spending a lot of my personal time and energy pushing the matter, finally agreed (in writing) to take the car apart and fix the problem. A week after they took my vehicle for this repair, I called for an update. I was told that someone form the Dept. of Transportation stopped by regarding a complaint that I filed. The DOT agent did not give them instructions to alter their plan of taking the vehicle apart, but they decided to change plans anyway. I expected to be told that my vehicle was ready, but instead I was informed that they had an air quality test performed (without my consent or knowledge) and decided not to do the repair. I would never have trusted them with my vehicle if I knew that they would renege on their commitment. At this point, though, I wasn't completely surprised. I informed Boucher that I have a major in Biology and doctorate in dentistry... I have taken many science classes in my day. An air test performed after the A/C and Heat have been completely off for weeks, along with a dramatic change in outside temperature and overnight storing conditions means very little. Mold doesn't just disappear, it becomes dormant until conditions are more favorable. In essence, how do you compare the diagnostic value of an air test as described versus three months of a vinegar odor plus a petri dish thriving with mold growth? Boucher has told me that "We have done nothing wrong and according to Wisconsin Law, we have no obligation to do anything more for you". Perhaps this is true, but isn't this about common decency? I will update this review shortly. My next step is to pay an outside business to take this vehicle apart and fix the problem. I will document this effort and have a test done on the air box showing what anyone with common sense already knows... Boucher Lincoln sold me a moldy car and refuses to fix a problem that can seriously damage the health of my family. FOR THE HEALTH OF YOUR FAMILY, BUYERS BE AWARE. Dr. Richard Salm More
