We bought our 6th new Hyundai from Gerald today. You know how you can tell Gerald is first class and a seriously well oiled machine? Over the past 8 years, we've seen the same great professionals still ther how you can tell Gerald is first class and a seriously well oiled machine? Over the past 8 years, we've seen the same great professionals still there. When that happens in virtually any business, but specially in the car business, it speaks volumes about the way the business is run. We did have one less than good experience at Gerald, and to this day I know it's because me and one of Gerald's super good salesman started off on the wrong foot. I can't even explain what caused it, but it's fair to say, we were probably both having an off morning. I wrote a negative review when my emotions got the best of me. That was weak on my part. I need to explain to readers, Gerald's GM, Mike Chino was out of the country and literally tried every way possible to make it right. Mike's a super nice guy, but more importantly a man of his word who will do whatever he can to make a fair deal for me, the customer, and Gerald, the business. All too often we as consumers fail to recognize what it takes to successfully run a large family owned business for decades and decades. A fair deal is only that if it's fair for both parties. I want to buy a car for a fair price, and the dealership MUST make enough profit to pay for all their overhead and still have some left over for expansion and overall expenses that may come up at any time. That's business 101. Today, Mike Chino, Pete Mendoza, and Dany Khochaba once again treated us well and gave us a very fair deal. All three of these guys are pro's that I've dealt with on numerous occasions. Today, even though they're working out of a tent due to the ongoing gorgeous renovation of their Hyundai store, they made us feel right at home and comfortable. We did a deal in no time, with no pressure, and a lot of friendly chatter back and forth. It sounds odd, but buying a car from these guys is more fun than you could ever imagine. They have the ability to do serious and professional work, all while maintaining a very chill environment. It's without question, the best place to buy a car for us. They know the product inside and out. They answer every question very articulately. They make buying a new car an enjoyable experience every time. We've been going to Gerald long enough to see all these guys move up the ladder. I love businesses that promote from within. I ran my own business for decades, and never once hired an outsider for a job higher up in our business. After finishing up our deal in Dany's office, we returned to the tent to say goodbye to the guys. The former GM, Nick Smiley, who is now the VP of all their dealerships had stopped in. He spotted me and me him and I immediately went over and shook hands and smiled. That's just how it is there. I know it sounds really corny, but once you buy a car from Gerald Hyundai, it feels very much like you're part of the family. These days, that's a rare quality in a large operation, like Gerald. Special thanks to Mike Chino, the GM for reminding me that we'd done a lot of business together over the years. He emailed me after that one bad day I had there and I took it to heart. People, including me at that time, are all too often quick to forget all the good stuff because of one really silly bad experience. It felt great to see everyone again Mike.
