“Free” recall repair at Gene’s dealership leads to $$$ to fix after Short version: received our vehicle from a “free” recall car replacement with two issues: 1. The dealership mechanic assumed it could be an issue with low voltage from the battery which they offered to replace for $300 and to see if that fixes it. We declined because nobody at the dealership bothered to plug a diagnostics tool that was just a guess probably from Google search. 2. Car brake suddenly “got stuck” on the way from dealership yard causing smoke coming out the wheel. The vehicle is now sitting in a real car repair shop to fix the issues that the dealership mechanics somehow caused. 3. We turned in a working vehicle for a part replacement that may have been a safety issue and we received our vehicle back with real issues that require immediate fix. More detailed review: Manufacturer sent a note about possible failure if we do not turn our vehicle into dealership for a free part replacement. Knowing it will NOT be free on March 2nd of 2023, I grudgingly drove the car to South Cushman Gene’s dealership in Fairbanks, AK. March 8th or 6 days and two phone calls later, we arrived to dealership collect the vehicle. 4:49 pm is the time stamp on our $199 cc receipt. 5:25 pm the car finally appeared upfront (taking it from the back of the building to its front for 300-ft ride the employee managed to get the car stack in a snow bank!). 5:30 pm dealership notified me that they can sell me a new car battery but they will not plug in a diagnostics tool to see what code caused the light to come on. 5:35 pm just one block away after a couple of weird pulls to the right and noise coming from the back, I pulled over. Smoke and strong smell were coming from the rear passenger tire. 6 pm the vehicle parked in a car repair shop just a couple of blocks away and waiting to be fixed, really. Worst of all, our vehicle is out of commission for another two weeks and looming $$$ spent on repairs Moral of the story: never, ever go to the dealership for a “free” part replacement if you do not have extra money for unnecessary “fixes”, time to be without your vehicle, and if you do not want to incur additional mechanical problems. For the “free” replacement you may end up paying $$ for dealership’s “courtesy 23 pt inspection,” “diagnostics” and “shop supplies.” More

I walk in and they know my name and all advisors say hello and are very courteous. I tell them in a layman’s terms what my vehicle is doing or the services that I need and they explain how they’re writ hello and are very courteous. I tell them in a layman’s terms what my vehicle is doing or the services that I need and they explain how they’re writing it up and it’s always accurate and concise; in terminologies the technicians performing the work or service will understand. I’ve never experienced any repairs or service that I did not for-authorize via a phone call after the diagnosis of an issue or something needing performed based on time, mileage or necessity. I’ve always been informed of findings for my issues that I originally made an appointment for and ultimately brought vehicle in for. The discussed issues at drop off are addressed prior to any other needed repairs every time. If there’s a delay I am informed well in advance and the explanation as to why is always well articulated in terminology folks not in the automotive industry will understand. I’m asked if I need a rental or a shuttle ride home from work if staying overnight. The service advisors and the service manager Susan Hicks have treated me extremely well and keep me informed. Her and I discussed how the automobile; whatever brand, model or type is the MOST EXPENSIVE purchase in any individuals life; therefore it should be treated as such. Look, my truck is in the high $80k range to replace and my wife’s high $60k. Clearly Susan and I share the same belief in values and making sure folks paying for that purchase from their facility or not, are treated well, informed of monies being spent (no big SURPRISE!) and no issues at time of pick up; after shuttle driver came to my place of employment, called the cel phone number provided at write up/drop off and I got a ride to pick up the truck. There has even been instance where I paid over the phone and due to a tight schedule the folks delivered the vehicle to my place of employment. The salesmen i purchased from no less and that’s how it’s should be! They had already explained all the repairs over the phone, the price is what they had quoted me when I okayed the work prior to being performed, and I was extremely satisfied, as I always have especially now. And if they read this good job, Genes Chrysler Dodge. Keep that good work up! I have a very happy owner. More

We almost always Have an issue when we bring our vehicle in. Last summer it took over 4 months for us to get our AC fixed because this dealership absolutely sucks at communication with whomever they get the in. Last summer it took over 4 months for us to get our AC fixed because this dealership absolutely sucks at communication with whomever they get their parts from. This time a simple oil change took over 3 hours even though we had an appointment and they ended up finishing a walk in customer before taking care of us-me and the walk in can in at the same time. If there was another place we could take our vehicle to, we would but unfortunately being that we live in a small town, we’re pretty much stuck with Genes for now More
Prompt courteous and knowledgeable. The work was done quickly. I received an inspection report and billing was as quoted. I buy my vehicles here because I like their service department.
