I would highly recommend Fred Beans VW in Devon to anyone looking to purchase a new or used car. I found my used VW at their dealership online and was immediately contacted by a helpful member of the sales s looking to purchase a new or used car. I found my used VW at their dealership online and was immediately contacted by a helpful member of the sales staff - Ed Waldeyer - who was very accommodating in scheduling me for a test drive. (Devon is approximately 2 hours from my home in Harrisburg.) Between Ed and the financial consultant (Alex) who guided me through the paperwork, I was treated with fairness and patience. I greatly appreciated everything they did to facilitate my purchase, and - were they closer to my home - I would be returning to their dealership to handle any maintenance work my car may need in the future. Deceitful and intimidating. The sales person tried to Deceitful and intimidating. The sales person tried to sell me an older car for more a higher price than their agreed to AAA price--he tried to sell me a 2011 for more than the negotiated price for a 2012. The "Business Manager" is an overbearing and intimidating man who berates customers. He jumped in my face telling me what my experience was. He constantly interrupted and didn't listen. His approach is to GIVE you YOUR opinion when he wants it. He then tried to deceive me when we were discussing financing options, switching both the percentage rate and the amount at the last minute. The overall experience was horrible. It took too long and was unpleasant for much of the time. After 3+ hours I left disturbed and unhappy, though thankfully without a car. Don't ever do business with Fred Beans VW. More
I just went back to Fred Beans for my second car with them. I told Jared a year and a half ago when I was getting my wife Passat Wagon serviced that I would be in to buy my GTI. Well after making him wo them. I told Jared a year and a half ago when I was getting my wife Passat Wagon serviced that I would be in to buy my GTI. Well after making him work off and on for over a year the time was right for me to finally purchase my car. Jared contacted me a few times in that 18 month period to let me kmow of current sales or deals on the GTI,I never felt pressured. Three months prior I almost bought a car but I wasn't sure of the color or if I may go with a CC. Well I called Jared he had just sold the GTI that I wanted the night before. He located the black GTI I wanted in a day and I picked it up that weekend. I beat him up pretty good, got the car I wanted and actually look forward to replacing my wife Passat next year with him. They offered good customer service, no hassle on financing as I was pre-approved when I arrived and was not interested in additional options at the time, and had a great deal on a certified pre-owne financing as I was pre-approved when I arrived and was not interested in additional options at the time, and had a great deal on a certified pre-owned jetta. I ended up purchasing elsewhere because they did not have what I needed, a Routan. Overall they were good to me. More
My wife and I live in Berwyn and we bought a Jetta at Fred Beans VW a few years ago. The sales people weren't pushy at all, and we always bring our car to the dealership for service. We don't feel like w Fred Beans VW a few years ago. The sales people weren't pushy at all, and we always bring our car to the dealership for service. We don't feel like we're being taken advantage of at all. I recently got in an accident in my old Altima, and went back to Fred Beans to buy a new Passat because we're so happy with the way they've treated us since we bought the Jetta. Buy your car here if you want to be treated well and not be pushed around by aggressive salespeople. More

My original service advisor was Ellen, then Greg, no problems whatsoever...then Brian. Simple oil changes started taking longer and longer, until, even though i made appointments, it was taking an average of 3 1/2 hours, which seemed a little long. I had several non-routine problems which became long-drawn out ordeals which ended in me leaving upset and disappointed in Brian's customer service skills. At one point, the ignition coils, which their service department had just replaced, began popping up, making the car feel as if it was involuntarily downshifting. i didn't know what was wrong but felt very unsafe driving it, so it was flat-bedded to beans. After it failed to recreate the problem(in less than a 1 mile test drive) Brian told me there was nothing wrong with the car and i should take it home. i told him several times i felt unsafe driving the car, it felt like the transmission was failing, i asked if a technician could take it for a longer drive...he got snarky with me and told me i would then be billed full price for the technician's time, there was nothing wrong with the car. After i burst into tears and called my husband(at work), who then "talked" to Brian and told him to recheck the car, the ignition coil problem was discovered and fixed. I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS DEALERSHIP AGAIN!!! i now go to Jim Wynn VW. Their service department is much faster, not to mention much friendlier! More
We had been in the market for a VW Jetta for a few weeks and learned that what we owed on our trade is much more then dealers were willing to give us. By the time we got to Fred Beans VW we had decided it and learned that what we owed on our trade is much more then dealers were willing to give us. By the time we got to Fred Beans VW we had decided it was going to be our last stop because we were tired of hearing how our car is worth so much less then what we owe. When we got there we were introduced to Jared, our salesman. Even after we told him we have been looking at the Jetta at other dealers, he really took the time to go through the car, asked us lots of questions and made sure we felt good about the car we wanted to buy. We were impressed at how well Jared treated us compared to the other dealers we visited. When it came time to look at our trade we were expecting the usual "you owe too much" speech. At that point Jared introduced us to George Clark, the sales manager. When Mr. Clark asked us some questions about our trade, we were pleasantly surprised that "how much do you owe on it?" was not one of those questions. The trade in figure he offered us was very fair but not enough for us to be able to afford the new car. We were about to give up when Mr. Clark asked us if we could give him 15 more minutes to see what he can do for us. Because he and Jared treated us so well we decided it could not hurt. Fifteen minutes later he came back out with more money for our trade. He also introduced us to Alex, the finance manager who shared with us a couple ideas he had that may help us get into a new car. We have never had a dealer work so hard for us. The team at Fred Beans really went the extra mile to get our business, and treated us with with a lot of respect. We are proud to be customers of Fred Beans Volkswagen. Even though there is a VW dealership 1 mile away from our house, we are doing all of our service at Fred Beans. I would recommend this dealership to anyone looking for a car! More
My husband and I drove two hours to Fred Beans VW in Devon in order to purchase a new GTI for myself. Our salesman was extremely nice, however when it came time to negotiate the manager came out from h Devon in order to purchase a new GTI for myself. Our salesman was extremely nice, however when it came time to negotiate the manager came out from his office. I was going to purchase a 2010 GTI. However, there was a problem with it. The car had 17" pretty plain wheels on it, but after reading the window sticker it was supposed to have the 18" Detroit Alloy wheels, a 750 dollar option. After bringing this to Mr. Clark's attention he offered my 600 dollars towards buying the 18" wheels from VW myself... I imagine 18" wheels from VW are extremely expensive, plus I would have had to buy 800 dollar tires for my new wheels and be stuck with wheels no one wants. He was extremely disrespectful, he took his wallet out of his pocket waved it in my face and told me that KBB is not his wallet(He offered my an EXTREMELY low offer on my trade, well below the dealer black book price for a 2008 in perfect condition with 22K miles). Also, after I brought it to his attention that another dealer offered me a better deal on a 2011, he said "Well why don't you go back to Harrisburg and buy it there." Finally, he pointed his finger in my face and said "You had your chance to talk, now you listen to me." I have no idea what he was about to say because I got up while he was in midsentence and walked right out the door. I will be buying my GTI somewhere else, I don't care if it's more expensive. Avoid this man at all costs. More
