I purchased a used 2020 Nissan Versa about a week ago and travel 40 miles one way to work. This car has everything I need and the big bonus for me is the 38.1 mpg I am currently getting. travel 40 miles one way to work. Where to begin......Had scheduled my truck for an oil change when my e brake decides to break as well. Oh well, I'll have them check it since it's there for the oil change anyway. Literally two (2) day change when my e brake decides to break as well. Oh well, I'll have them check it since it's there for the oil change anyway. Literally two (2) days before the scheduled oil change/brake check my engine decides to do a c P0017. So I decides to have them check that as well. After a couple of days I get a call from the service advisor that in addition to the e brake cable, their master techs found my rear brakes were just about shot and since it was already there I said to go ahead and take care of that as well. Then he stated that my rear shocks were leaking, majorly, and so I went ahead and said to take care of that as well since it was already on the lift. Then the big one, the P0017 code which was caused by a timing issue, requiring a timing belt change. So a quick breakdown is oil change, regular price $66.03. Rear brakes/e brake repair: $1049.54 of which $562.50 is labor cost. Rear shocks, $473.18 with $125.00 labor for 4 bolts and the time to swap them out. And the biggy, timing chain and cam phaser replacement; $4004.10 with a flat $2000 labor rate for that one job. Total was over $6K with more in labor costs then parts........ So doing the math based on available ford guides online I paid an average of $222.22 for the timing belt/Cam phaser repair (9 hrs per guide), and I'm not sure how much per hour for the other jobs..... unreal......which is really too bad because the quality of the work is excellent. The trucks runs and handles great again. So the moral of the story here would be, shop around. I am a big believer in going to dealerships, but this experience has left a sour, sour taste and I don't see myself or my wife ever going to back to Davidson Ford of Clay ever again More
