I had a very disappointing experience with Nissan of Cool Springs and their service department. I went in for what should have been a routine oil change. After inspecting the vehicle, I was told that the Springs and their service department. I went in for what should have been a routine oil change. After inspecting the vehicle, I was told that the previous technician had tightened the oil drain plug too much, and because of that, the oil pan needed to be replaced. I was told this would be covered under warranty, so I would not have to pay anything. It took approximately 2–2.5 hours to get my vehicle back. Before this service, my vehicle had no starting or electrical issues whatsoever. However, immediately after the service, I noticed that the vehicle was having difficulty starting. The next day, the vehicle would not start at all. I had to jump-start it and then take it back to the dealership. At that point, I was told that my battery was bad. This was very confusing because just one day earlier, the dealership’s own inspection/report indicated that the battery was in good condition. I asked how a battery that was reported as good one day could suddenly become bad immediately after the service. I then spoke with the service manager, and his explanation was that my vehicle has only about 21,000 miles after three years, so I don’t drive it enough and that is why the battery went bad. He asked how far my office is from my home and pointed out that I only drive about 10–15 miles each way. He suggested that this short-distance driving was the reason the battery failed. That explanation was frustrating and did not make sense to me, especially given the timing of the problem. My vehicle had no starting issues before the service, the battery was reported as good immediately before/around the service, and the starting problem appeared immediately afterward. I understand that batteries can fail and that driving habits can affect battery life. However, I expected the dealership to take the timing of the issue seriously and investigate whether anything related to the service could have contributed to the problem, rather than simply blaming my driving habits. Overall, the experience left me very disappointed. I brought my vehicle in for a routine oil change and left with a vehicle that was having a starting problem that it did not have before the service. I expected better communication, investigation, and customer service from a Nissan dealership. More
