Sloppy overpriced service I brought in a Lexus RX300 2002 AWD for maintenance to Lexus of Melbourne in Florida. During replacement of the timing belt, an alternator bolt was br I brought in a Lexus RX300 2002 AWD for maintenance to Lexus of Melbourne in Florida. During replacement of the timing belt, an alternator bolt was broken - fine, expected on a 2002 vehicle. I was offered a choice of a remanufactured alternator or a new one - fair. In addition to requested work I was recommended to replace ignition coils and the throttle body - as cleaning did not resolve gas pedal sticking. The throttle body replacement was estimated at more than $2000. Refused. Found out that a remanufactured throttle body cost $227 plus $200 in labor. It seems that an honest facility should give options and potentially recommend an independent car shop - like the dealership did in case of the alternator - in case of an 18-year old car. Same for ignition coils, which go from $25 OEM. The next day after bringing the car home, I noticed that the coolant level was low - empty expansion reservoir and low in the radiator. One of the driving belts screeches at start up on a cold engine, poor polishing of the detailing. Several weeks later during rain noticed that the passenger side wiper gets caught on the windshield pillar - the wrong size 22" wiper was installed instead of a 21". Here is the main part. After consulting with a reputable car shop, I cleaned the throttle body myself - takes 30 minutes. The sticking is gone now. The toothbrush, used for my cleaning, was _black_ from soot. Does not seem that it should be that bad one week after the dealership cleaning. More

Quick efficient Service Engine light came on SC430 and of course this is always concerning. I called Rubin to see when I could bring it in and it was the same boring. He had Engine light came on SC430 and of course this is always concerning. I called Rubin to see when I could bring it in and it was the same boring. Dealer and John Cuestas, salesman, why you should buy here! John Cuestas is a very non pressure sales professional. Even though we were not ready to purchase, John answered our questions and pulled 3 vehicles f John Cuestas is a very non pressure sales professional. Even though we were not ready to purchase, John answered our questions and pulled 3 vehicles from stock for us to look at. We realized after seeing the pricing on Lexus was ball park to our Cadillac but has more bennies and over all more quality than our Cadillac, we decided to get pricing just for information. John worked out multi pricing scenarios that allowed us to get the Lexus on a 36 month lease for a couple hundred dollars more monthly and not owe on anything at the end of lease. More accolades for John Cuestas and Lexus of Melbourne, FL We took the Lexus with us on a Thursday and Saturday the Lexus would not start. After a while we tried to start again we moved the steering wheel a little and it started. On Sunday we went to the garage to see if the Lexus would start and it did. Monday morning it would not start and we called for a tow truck. After several hours later and without a tow truck it finally started and we took to dealer and got a loaner car. The next morning John called and told us not to worry he will follow on our vehicle until the problem was resolved. Later that day, we were told the problem, but will take several days to complete since our problem was almost non existent with a Lexus. We were offered to wait for the repairs or we could get an exact duplicate new vehicle, we took the new vehicle on Wednesday. My wife and I, over the last 30 years have purchased over 20 new vehicles. During the purchasing process of the 20 vehicles, we did not receive the dedication of a professional sales person like John Cuestas. We thank John and all the people involved with our situation at Lexus of Melbourne, FL for doing what ever it takes to make us happy.
