I had an oil-change appointment for 12:15 (I arrived at 12:10) and still didn't leave until 1:20. I had a coupon for a $39.95 full synthetic oil change and free inspection, and while the price was honored, 12:10) and still didn't leave until 1:20. I had a coupon for a $39.95 full synthetic oil change and free inspection, and while the price was honored, a 10% shop fee was added (a $44 oil change minus the annoying shop fee would have been honest as well as reasonable) and the free inspection was deleted--it wasn't done. (I was told that my car being inspected at the time I approached the service rep wondering how much longer I had to wait [Noah at 1:15], which I'm suspecting was a lie or a company script. Which?) That said, I was surprisingly short-changed by the service department here. I think this was my first experience using this dealership to service my 2012 Honda Civic (a beater but still a fine runner); I usually use Firestone, and I will admit the price of the oil change was the attraction for my trying out Northside Honda. I'm not really tempted to trust this dealership with any future dealings, but I'm going to give it another try to see if this experience isn't a one-off. And one more thing: so far, in 24 hours, I've received three texts (reminder of the appointment, a thank-you for using online appointment-making, and a thank-you for using NS Honda for servicing my auto) and five e-mails (confirmation of the appointment, welcome to having an account with Northside Honda, confirmation of payment, a thank-you for using NS Honda for servicing my auto, and a request for rating my experience). I'll also be receiving another e-mail to verify this review. Isn't that a bit . . . overkill? I know I authorized texts, but I didn't know I authorized an account with MyNSHonda.com and all these e-mails. Sneaked that in the boilerplate, didja? Now I have to unsubscribe something I didn't want in the first place. Not a great first impression with trust. On a great note, though, there was a waiting area that was dedicated as a quiet room. There is a concessions area, but no one was attending it, but since it was a weekend afternoon, I'm going to guess that it is not being utilized. I did look at the vehicles in the showroom and was approached by one salesman who politely asked if I need help, and smiled kindly when I said I have a car in for service. I was surprised at the $3- and $4000 markups for dealer ridiculousness (nitrogen in tires and "fabric protection" are such scams) on every car. More
