My girlfriend and I drove down from St Petersburg with the sole intention of driving back with a new (CPO) Jeep. We were pleasantly greeted by "Mauro" upon our arrival. As we discussed on the phone before the sole intention of driving back with a new (CPO) Jeep. We were pleasantly greeted by "Mauro" upon our arrival. As we discussed on the phone before driving down, he had the Jeep ready for a test drive. After a short drive with good conversation, we returned back to the dealership, but a different CPO caught our eyes. After a short test drive in it (and more conversation), we set our minds on buying it. Since it wasn't the original Jeep I came to purchase, I hadn't reviewed the CarFax on it. Mauro was accommodating and quickly with providing us with a copy of the CarFax. This is when things turned suspicious for me; I suppose the former Senior Drill Sergeant and 22 years of military service kicked in. I started reading at a very early age. Even became quite proficient at it. So much so, I even comprehend what I read. I may not be the sharpest crayon in the box, but I still color within the lines quite well. Meaning, reading me something I'm fully capable of reading myself isn't a good idea. Particularly, a CarFax report. But there he sat, doing a fine, but useless, job of reading the report to me. Right way, I knew something was in the report he hoped I wouldn't read. Funny enough, my girlfriend picked up on it right way. Even sooner than I did. But we remained cordial and sat there as he continued to read. Once he was done, we excused ourselves from his desk to sit in the "waiting area" and read the report character-by-character and line-by-line ourselves. Sure enough, we found what we suspect he hoped we wouldn't find; a major recall on the Jeep. I immediately returned to Mauro and asked him to look up the recall code. Considering the recall effects 154,000+ 4Xe models, I'm absolutely convinced beyond any doubt, he already knew about it. Did it slip his mind to tell us during the test drive...before or after? I think not. There we were test driving a vehicle that has the propensity of catching on fire while in motion (or parked)! But he said absolutely nothing!!! Only after we told him we were no longer interested did he seem to "agree" with us in not purchasing the Jeep. Was it too much of us to expect a bit more transparency during our visit? Was it Mauro' obligation or responsibility to inform us of the hazardous recall? The car buying experience is already filled with suspicion, anxiety and doubt. No need to unnecessarily add to it. So, do we feel a certain way about this entire experience? Absolutely! Hence this review. Needless to say, we have no intentions of returning to or recommending Naples Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram.
