Toyota. Nowhere else. That's all I ever wanted to work for. I have joked that I bleed Toyota emblems. My Dad, Uncle and Aunt all worked for Toyota when I was growing up. We were early adopters of the product here in Central Illinois. I think our 1989 Corolla was the first Toyota in Fairbury IL. I started at Fort's as a Salesman on April Fools Day 1996. Hopefully I haven't been the fool! It is an easy way for me to remember the date. I had never sold a car or worked at a dealer before, but impressed the sales manager with my product knowledge. Later, as my Wife and I started a family. I needed a kid friendly schedule and moved to the service department. This has been an opportunity to meet thousands of Toyota lovers! I can talk Toyota all day with you folks! I espouse to my staff to treat everyone like they are working on their family members car. We don't sell "snake-oil" products or over-recommend work on cars. We do our best everyday and I hope it shows.

Fort's Toyota of Pekin responded

We have worked with Amber Hubner and “Total Warranty Services” (TWS) warranty over the years and because of this, we were willing to attempt a claim on her headlamp assembly. Initially, Dylan had a green light to replace the lamp with TWS, but when he processed the $700.00 claim, it was denied. We asked for more consideration and started a back-and-forth process again with TWS that had them send out an inspector. The claim was again denied. During this back and forth, Amber brought the truck back for an engine repair, also covered by TWS. As Amber mentioned, we did fix some trim issues after the overhaul. The shop foreman and I had a learning moment about QC with the apprentice who completed the front bumper installation. Understandably, the condition at delivery leaves a poor impression. (No matter who the customer is) During the engine repair, we were still asking Amber to help us with TWS and the headlamp cost. We asked her to call TWS as that sometimes helps push a claim through. No luck. Because she is from Pekin and we have bent over backward to work with TWS, we hoped to settle this repair amicably. We called and asked if she would consider $200 as payment for the full repair and we could put this all behind us. She then said she would talk to her husband because “with everything going on, we are broke right now”. This conversation is where things went off the rails. Amber has doubled and tripled down on that she never said that. I had to ask Dylan if I missed something, as he was also on the call. He verified what I heard. Right now, Amber is driving her 4runner with the unpaid light housing. Yes, Amber Hubner only has a 100 deductible and that is all she authorized. However, weeks later, Amber still has not paid anything. We offered to reinstall the old headlamp assembly and she could walk away owing nothing. She found this outrageous, “It was Dylan's mistake” she proclaimed. Basically, “Finders Keepers”. She even suggested that her engine repair and concerns should negate her need to pay the bill. Also of note, Amber has contacted Toyota. They have dismissed her concern. Eric Stahl, Service Manager
