I went in because tire inflation lights were erratic on my new Mazda in horrific rain conditions. The first day, Culver City Mazda’s service said there was a big nail, overinflated all the tires to compensate, claimed a $300 tire had to be ordered for next day and told me it was safe to drive freeways that rainy day, which l chose not to do. Day two, with two tire underinflation warning lights firing, l asked to see the holes. Service Department changed its story, saying that the small nail had not penetrated the first tire and that the second tire’s major deflation, indicated by the warning system, was okay. After l asked about what kind of patch would be done, based on the owner’s manual recommendations, the service manager told me l no longer needed to purchase two replacement tires, and l was sent on my way no charge.
