I have a 2006 S 430 4 matic car. It had a problem with engine light on. I went to AutoZone and checked it out and found out that it has EGR Valve problem. ( Exhaust Gas Re-Circulatio It had a problem with engine light on. I went to AutoZone and checked it out and found out that it has EGR Valve problem. ( Exhaust Gas Re-Circulation Valve). Part # 112-140-04-60 The cost of this part is $278.00 at parts.mbusa.com So I was trying to fix it and first, I went to see Ms. Christy Hicks at Mercedes-Benz of Atlanta northeast at the Duluth store. She gave me the price quote of $2075.00 ( parts roughly $700.00 and labor $1375.00) I was stunned and confused. Then I called RBM store at Roswell and talked to Jessica. She told me that they don’t do services for 10 years and older cars, but she sent me some small service stores phone numbers. I called one of them. Lauck Motors at Roswell. They told me that the price was around $500.00 to install and clean the carbon of the system. Actually, they charged me only $410.00 plus tax ( part $280.00 and labor only $130.00) I dropped my car at there and they repaired it and I picked up the same day afternoon. The car is working fine now and the engine light on is gone. Why I am explaining these things because I am not happy with the price quote from the Mercedes Benz of Atlanta NE store. $1500.00 price difference? It is too much. I used to be Car Salesman and now I heard about that cars are selling on sticker prices or some of them selling way over sticker prices. Are they are trying to make same kinds of more-money for the repair services jobs too? Especially, the situation like this? People are suffering because of the inflation. It is not fair to collect more money for the old car repairs. Middle class people can’t afford to buy new cars and that’s why they are looking to repair their favorite old cars. I wonder that why there is no regulatory requirements to charge these repair costs? It is so crazy and not acceptable. More
