My 7500 mile warranty check up went quite well, the rep
was excellent. However, less than 3 days after this service with nearly no miles driven the vehicle would not start. The ignition button activated, b

The ignition button activated, but then nothing except a message that there was a problem with the starting system… which was obvious since the car had not started, would not go into a drive gear and the steering wheel power assist did not come on. Whether something bad happened at the service center or not I can not say, but the situation was “suggestive”. Then they could not get me in for service for at least 2 weeks, so I chose to have my vehicle with less than 8000 miles towed to a dealership closer to my home. They, too, were busy and have not provided me with an update on when/if it has even been evaluated yet. They did give me a loaner, as the problem is quite likely under warranty service.

Later we found out the add-ons were already included on the sticker price. Also the vehicle he a small door ding, which he said could be fixed in one day less than an hour. It took multiple trips to the dealership and leaving the car for 4 days before it was finally fixed properly. I do not appreciate being lied to and am considering legal action for lie about the cost.

After speaking with GM Graham, I feel better about some aspects of my transaction. There were in fact some after market add-ons that the dealership was given after the fact to add to the vehicle which was additional to the sticker price. So buyer be sure to ask about the real final cost early, because it can be higher than the sticker. Also, when it comes to cash incentives, be advised that Hyundai only issues the cash incentives to people that pay higher finance rates, usually people with average to bad credit. If you have excellent or good credit you can qualify for low financing but do not expect to qualify for any cash incentives. That includes college grad, military, rebates, etc…, none of these are available unless you pay an interest rate that will cost you way more than the actually cash incentive. This is a Hyundai issue and is very misleading, but not a problem with this particular dealership. Lastly, I am still not happy with being mislead about the time it would take to repair a small door ding, but at least the GM understood my displeasure with that issue. I would advise any would be buyer to thoroughly inspect your vehicle before signing, which I did, and then unlike me do not purchase a vehicle with any issues unless you’re prepared to deal with a likely longer than expected repair process. I do appreciate Graham reaching out to me to listen to my concerns.
