On November 2, 2020 I purchased a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder at Universal Nissan. It has taken me sometime to be able to compose a letter because of the holidays, family and life. But everyday I knew this neede at Universal Nissan. It has taken me sometime to be able to compose a letter because of the holidays, family and life. But everyday I knew this needed to be done. I will start off by saying I will NEVER buy another vehicle from Universal Nissan of Orlando on Orange Blossom Trail again! I previously bought a Nissan Cube from them in March of 2012. I had such a wonderful experience I figured to go back (I even remember the man that sold me my Cube, his name was Randy, and he is no longer employed there). I went there just to browse. That is when I met Austin (a 22 year old young man, I have a son the same age). He was new at this and I gave him some pointers on to handle business with me. I wasn’t like most naive women when it comes to purchasing a car. I told him right from the beginning that I would not tolerate sexiest remarks or treated like I was infirior to a man. He seemed to understand the point I was trying to make. He asked me what I was looking for. I told him that I was looking for an SUV with back seat vents because it is Florida and it gets crazy hot in the back (I had a Ford Explorer years before which had the ventilation). I also told him that my husband has only Mondays off (it was a Friday) and as soon as he gets the chance I would bring him by. My price range was $15,000. So Austin showed me a beautiful blue Rogue. As we were talking he asked me if I was interested in the Pathfinder which had a 3rd row seating. I was unaware that SUVs came with 3rd row seating options. So he showed me the 2015 Pathfinder (which was red… I don’t like red!). It was an option I never considered and told him that I had to speak with my husband and thanked him for his time. Not even an hour later Austin sent me a text asking to come in that weekend with my husband to take the car for a spin. That should have been the 1st big red flag! I had told him that my husband’s ONLY day off was Mondays. So that Monday after we had finished what needed to be done around my house we had enough time to swing by and take a look at the Pathfinder before I went to Target to do my weekly grocery shopping. My husband really liked the idea of the 3rd row. We even took it for a test drive around the block. I had no plans on purchasing a vehicle that day. I am not one to buy the 1st thing I see. Before I knew it we were filling out paperwork. I really didn’t think we were going to get approved (I was waiting for my mother to come to Florida in December to co-sign for us). We had already spent a couple of hours there and really needed to get going (plus I have a child with Autism and her patience was at an end). I told them I had to leave. They begged for my husband to stay to see if we could get approved. That is when I met Deya, the manager. I said fine, again thinking that we were not buying a SUV that day. So I left. As I was shopping my husband called me and told me that they had an offer of $500 a month for 5 years, $16,000. I said xxxx NO!!! Austin had told me the Pathfinder was $13,000. That’s $3,000 more than I was told. A little while later my husband called me again and asked if $360 a month for 6 years was OK. I said yes and before I knew it I had to rush home and get pay stubs, insurance info, title to my Cube (which I really didn’t want to part with). I had just assumed my husband went through the car thoroughly but I knew he wasn’t the one with the knowledge of a vehicle. This is the part Austin had forgotten I told him. I was the one that grew up in an auto part store (NAPA, The Car Care Man, Flynn’s auto parts store (my mother worked for these companies)… I can drive just about anything and am really good at driving stick shift aka manual, I also have MANY relatives that drive MAC trucks and own their own trucking businesses, my father also had worked for Goodyear and ASI Tire Sales). My husband has a degree in Hotel and Restaurant management and also has had several brain contusions so I am the one that makes all the major decisions and handles our finances. I had to have faith that he was not getting one pulled over on him… which is actually what happened. 1st week I didn’t really go anywhere because I had to do online learning for my daughter. Sunday was the 1st day I had the chance to go out. As I was driving I noticed that the car was out of alignment. It also started to rain, so when I turned on the wipers I was completely annoyed that the wipers were in BAD condition. So bad that even the one on the passenger side was ripped and the rubber was flopping everywhere. But the straw that broke the camel’s back was when I went to stop at a red light and I slid right through the light because the tires were bald (I tried to look at them the night we drove the car home. I told Austin they were bad, but he said, “Oh no my mechanics said there was enough tread on them for another year”. I sent Austin a text and he had informed me that the vehicle was sold as is and there wasn’t a warranty. Florida has a lemon law to protect from shady dealers. I NY state this vehicle would have never made it off the lot because it would have failed the state mandate inspection. Wipers, tires and the reverse tail lights were blown. I then immediately went to the dealership to speak with Deya. He too questioned my ability to know that the SVU was out of alignment. He asked me to come back on Tuesday when Austin was there. I was beyond pissed! I told my husband that he better speak with them because I was going to lose my cool and give the worst tongue lashing they had ever received. So when my husband was speaking with Austin I could hear Austin questioning my husband if the SUV was REALLY out of alignment (oh my god the fire that coursed through my veins!) He then informed my husband that he could get new tires and alignment for less than $600. I told my husband NO!!! If there was this much wrong with the vehicle only a week after purchasing it I knew that there was probably more… and I was right!!! I took to my mechanic and got 4 new Firestone tires and the alignment for $900. My mechanic didn’t charge me for the tie rods that were dangerously loose. Seriously!!! I truly regret writing the google review just days after I had purchased the SUV. Again being pressured from Austin I did so without having complete knowledge of the vehicle More

Buying a new car is never easy: So many choices and options to evaluate. I came to Universal Nissan through the Costco Auto Program.
