Tri City Dodge fixed my 04 Grand Cherokee many years ago, - R. Buck
Tri City Dodge fixed my 04 Grand Cherokee many years ago, they fixed & inspected my Lexus right before buying a Vehicle from them, & I bought my Ram from them 2 yrs ago. So I didn't doubt them when they Inspected my Ram this Year and had to replace my Differential tail shaft & Axle. It cost me $1,078.00 in labor, and $1000.00 in Parts. They Did a fine job and I picked it up last week after being without a vehicle for several days during the Xmas Holiday. After this front end work and Inspection it ran great, my brakes were even tighter and i wasn't charged for brake work at all – no problems to speak of. I drove it home, had it for 2 days and only went to the grocery store and home before the starter went. I never had a Misfiring cylinder in my Ram or they would've discovered that during inspection the week before, and 2 days prior to my starter failing and it's tow back to the garage.
This was the last 2 week of December
So I do not doubt their Integrity or their Expertise. However, I had it back only 2 days and the Starter went out. I had to return it again on a flatbed this time for a Starter, & I picked it back up on Jan 2nd. When I picked it up after the Starter was replaced, it turned over hard, smelled like burning wires, and my truck had a check engine light on so I brought it in the garage before leaving with it. They never checked it with an odb reader right then but told me I may have a cylinder misfire. Being in a Jamb & because I had already missed work to pick it up on the 2nd and they had no Loaner all this time, I said id return saturday & I drove it home to get to work on Friday. The next morning on Friday it almost didnt start to get me to work & I smelled Electrical burn. so I called the Garage from work and left a message. It also barely started to get me home at 6pm that same evening, and I called the garage again on my way home telling them i would be dropping it off the next day on sat jan 4. I got almost all the way home from work thank god, and now my Truck began to run hot with a warning-bell just beginning to chime when pulling in my drive. So, I have a Red Lightening Bolt and a check engine light that was never there after the front-end work they did and before I had the starter replaced. And I now have an Engine trying to run hot. Since having the Starter Replaced my truck exhaust stinks, and smoke keeps coming out of the left tailpipe after I shut it off. I have a Check Engine Light and a Red Lightening Bolt that I've never seen & was not present after inspection and before the starter replacement, And It runs terrible now.
To note, I was told that a software Update was done to eliminate a fluttering Dash-Light that I didn't ask for or consent to, and my Dash Lights still Flutter when on the Bright setting. Knowing they did this for me free is appealing, but the fact is I didn't ask for it, wasn't asked about-it, and cannot help wondering if this update, or a bad starter could be the issue.
My Truck never ran bad, never had a check engine light or a red lightening bolt when i brought it for inspection & front end work, they weren't on when my Starter failed an I had it towed-in, and in fact, did not have a red lightening bolt EVER. It did not have these problems after the Differential was replaced and it was inspected and I picked it up. And it had none of these problems 2 days after picking it up when the starter failed and i had to have it towed back again before the new year.
Today I purchased a Thermostat for my Truck & had it sent to Tri-City because I looked up the issue and discovered a stuck thermostat is the likely cause of my engine beginning to run hot as there are no leaks. I have asked them to check the Starter, replace the Thermostat and resolve the Check engine light and the red lightening bolt issue. In essence my recently Inspected Vehicle was returned Un-inspectable after starter. I have faith they will resolve the Problem.
Sincerely, R.S. B
