I test drove a Honda Pilot and liked it very much. - Jellystone88
I test drove a Honda Pilot and liked it very much. It was obvious that it needed brake work from the shudder and the cruise did not work. My husband saw that the battery had been used to jump or was jumped recently.
The salesman questioned my ability to use the cruise control and said the battery was fine. He also claimed it was a Georgia car.
(Sold in Maine- stayed in Maine.) I had planned ahead and made an appointment in two days for a local mechanic to look over the vehicle. We have trusted him for over 10 years.
The dealer claimed that the Pilot was going to be taken to another dealership because someone else was interested in it before my appointment. Oh well, I said.
He offered to take the car to the mechanic early so we would have our answer before the other customer’s appointment. Sure!
The next day, someone from our mechanic’s shop called to say everything was fine and to go ahead and buy the car. We returned his call to ask him what was fine? Did he check all the things we had problems with? He said the dealer had told him just to check fluid levels.
Later that day, our mechanic himself called. The cruise control was broken (electronics!), the rotors were warped, and the battery was bad. We paid our mechanic for his time.
We called the dealer and told him that we wouldn’t buy any car from them.
