They’ll do whatever it takes including bait and switch. I went to buy, not just look. Did a test drive, liked the car. Those prices online you see? ....yeah, those discounts only apply to a select few I went to buy, not just look. Did a test drive, liked the car. Those prices online you see? ....yeah, those discounts only apply to a select few. I mean a very small select few. Balked at the full price so my salesman brings in another guy to hammer a deal. After I said no. Basically, the guy threw numbers at us till he could wear us down. Not impressed. Go outside to discuss privately with my wife, he follows and says he can match the payment we wanted if we put a some money down. In discussing the deal, he referred to the exact car we originally balked at and referred to it by model name and color. I said yes. Who wouldn’t? Get the paperwork done. Gave them money. They pulled our new car up and we go home with it. That was a Saturday. Get a call Monday afternoon telling us we have the wrong car. They claim we bought a white, stripped down model. We never looked at the car they claim. We never test drove the car they claim. We never even discussed this car. In fact, the one color my wife won’t do? You guessed it.... white. We were told that we either had to come back and can have the white one oooorrrrrrr..... we could keep the one we have but for more money. Surprise, surprise. The salesman admits he only talked about the one we took home. The rude GM couldn’t even bother to introduce himself but he admitted it was their error. Did they honor it? Of course not. Claims it was a mix up of numbers. Well.... before you claim error, how about the fact that the numbers are in no way close. I wouldn’t have such an issue if it wasn’t such a textbook bait and switch. More

CAUTION ANYONE WHO IS THINKING ABOUT PURCHASING A VEHICLE I CAUTION ANYONE WHO IS THINKING ABOUT PURCHASING A VEHICLE... DO NOT PURCHASE A USED CAR FROM THIS DEALER. I am retracting my original post as this I CAUTION ANYONE WHO IS THINKING ABOUT PURCHASING A VEHICLE... DO NOT PURCHASE A USED CAR FROM THIS DEALER. I am retracting my original post as this purchase has turned in to a huge financial loss for me with no recourse from Zeigler Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Downers Grove. I purchased a used 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee from this location in October of 2019 and the initial sales process went pretty smoothly. Fast forward a couple months... While towing a boat the engine had down shifted from 6 to 5, clunking into gear then ultimately getting stuck in 6th gear. We stopped at a jeep dealership off of the highway near where we were to have them check the engine code. The proceeded to tell me that given the vehicles history (a 2015 JGC with 38,000 miles) would likely need a new transmission. After getting the code cleared we made it home and immediately called a friend with internal access to Jeeps records. We came to find out that this vehicle was on its second transmission and this was seemingly a problem related. The dealership that I purchased it from, CDJR of Downers Grove had been the ones to try to fix the initial issue and were also the ones to replace the trans. This was information was NEVER provided to me prior to the purchase. In their defense, legally they do not have to tell you. However the reason I was purchasing a new vehicle was due to a year long back and forth issue with a transmission. I made it very clear to the sales person, Frank Leonette, that I did not want another problem vehicle. He assured me that the vehicle had no trans issues that he was aware of however oddly enough, he was driving the vehicle prior to the purchase which is LIKELY related to them trying to recreate an issue after replacing the trans. I called this dealership and asked to speak with the manager. I was unable to get a hold of him so I left a message.... then another message and another. No call back. Finally I called corporate (Zeigler) and they explained that they could not help me because each dealership was managed independently. I called back and asked to speak with anyone who would talk to me. They connected me with the Used Sales Manager, Mike Tracz. He listened to my story, then proceeded to tell me that he was unable to help me and that he needed to have the store manager call me back. I proceeded to call another local dealership for help. They attempted to repair the vehicle however because the issue is intermittent, all they could do was an update. While the vehicle was in their shop, I received a call from Phil Nepomuck of CDJR Downers Grove. He listened to my story and then said that if the local dealership was unable to fix it, they would meet me half way (two hour drive) and take the vehicle in for service to make it right. After the initial repair, the vehicle exhibited the same issue while towing. Since I had spent a good $30,000+ on it, I wanted the vehicle fixed so I could use it for what I purchased for... leisurely towing. I proceeded to call Phil Nepomuck back to take him up on the offer to fix a vehicle that clearly had a reoccurring issue. I called and left MULTIPLE (probably 6-8 messages) on Phil's voicemail and at the same time always asked the receptionist to write down my name and number and physically give Phil the message. This was over the course of 3 weeks. NO CALL BACK. I live over two hours away so making a trip down there was not an option. I now stand to lose over $10,000 due to depreciation because I am in need of a vehicle that can safely tow without trans issues. I CAUTION ANYONE WHO IS THINKING ABOUT PURCHASING A VEHICLE... This has been the worst experience and I am going to suffer a huge financial loss with no recourse. Shame on this dealership for taking advantage and not doing the right thing. The carfax never showed any of this history. These people are crooks. More
