I've been having my car serviced at McKenna for 5 years. Lou and Pat are friendly and knowledgeable. I'm in and out fast, and treated like a VIP. Wouldn't take my car any where else! Attempted to buy a base model 2009 Ford Ranger from Windward. Showed up, the truck was in the lot, but filthy. Ok, no big deal. Went for the test drive and it was fine. Went to talk price after goi Windward. Showed up, the truck was in the lot, but filthy. Ok, no big deal. Went for the test drive and it was fine. Went to talk price after going over financing (told him it would be a cash purchase) and other background information. He then comes back with a price list showing the asking price, minus the rebates, then the total. Well the asking price was $3,000 OVER MSRP (on a truck that is about $12,000 after rebates, that's a 25% mark-up!). I told him that was crazy and counter offered within a few hundred of MSRP. He went to the "manager" twice, but wouldn't come down from the price. We walked, huge waste of time. More
Very cool bunch of guys who are a lot easier to deal with than many of the other downtown dealers I had gone to first thinking it would be cheaper....it wasn't. I am taking the time out to recommend these M than many of the other downtown dealers I had gone to first thinking it would be cheaper....it wasn't. I am taking the time out to recommend these Mckenna Ford because I know Mike has done a lot of positive work in the community and they are somewhat of a throwback family run and oriented business. Most car hawaii dealerships today are run by external mainland companies and it shows. The aloha spirit is alive and well in Kailua and I got a great deal to boot!!! More
Called the day before about a vehicle I was interested in and told the sales guy I would be there before 6 pm the next day. Drove out from Makakilo in Friday rush hour traffic and got there 530pm. He was go and told the sales guy I would be there before 6 pm the next day. Drove out from Makakilo in Friday rush hour traffic and got there 530pm. He was gone and the car I was interested in was not there. Got a call back the next day, no apologies or attempts at politeness. Just 'so...when are you coming back down to look at the car.' I was polite and told him I was busy and then the sales guy says something like 'what's the matter? Can't afford the car?' What the hell kind of sales tactic is that?! More
don't let the nice "country" setting of the dealership fool ya. In the end, the salespeople and management are poor at best. They don't honor national sales events / promotions - even thou th dealership fool ya. In the end, the salespeople and management are poor at best. They don't honor national sales events / promotions - even thou the websites have their name all over em. These folks will make ever "high pressure" attempt to get the max $$ out of your wallet. It's an island for goodness sake ... one would think long term customer satisfaction would be job one !! Not at this place !!! the other ford dealers on oahu aren't much better - but at least they are your typical car dealership .... ya know it going in and your prepared for the "game". Stay away. buy from the mainland and have it shipped in. More
I took my car into Windward Ford for an electrical problem. I live in Kailua and didn't want to hassle with a rental car, so I kept going back (big mistake!). Over a period of 5 months they had my car problem. I live in Kailua and didn't want to hassle with a rental car, so I kept going back (big mistake!). Over a period of 5 months they had my car for 35 days total, never resolved the issue, and it ended up costing me $900. I took the car to Honolulu Ford and they fixed it (and a fuel pump issue that Windward told me was irrelevant to my problem) in under a week. Honolulu Ford told me that they get a lot of customers from Windward Ford. More
The only thing that I was disatisfied with was receiving my registration for the car that I purchased . It took 2 months before I received it . I had to call twice . The first time I called , she said it wa my registration for the car that I purchased . It took 2 months before I received it . I had to call twice . The first time I called , she said it was an electronic registration and it was being processed . She also made a comment to me which I felt was was inapproriate . She said " well , its not like its sitting here on my desk " I waited a few more weeks and still no registration ,so I called back again . Apparently , the registration wasn't even being processed , and she had no idea what I was talking about . She said she would have to call me back when she found out more information. When she called back she said "I found it and I will put a rush on it and send it out on monday so it will take another week ." So , I guess it was in fact "SITTING ON HER DESK "<br>all this time !
