Customer Service Much to Be Desired Made an diagnostics appointment online and described the issue with a fair amount of information -- symptoms for a failed APIM for a Ford Explorer. Th Made an diagnostics appointment online and described the issue with a fair amount of information -- symptoms for a failed APIM for a Ford Explorer. The diagnostics confirmed the problem so the service technician (John K) gave me the quote to the parts and labor to replace the APIM. Because I couldn't afford to pay for the repairs, I decided to take my vehicle back after paying almost $200 for the diagnostics with nothing but a piece of paper telling me what I already knew. Upon returning home, I went on Ford website and found out there is a recall put out for the same exact issue -- an extension warranty for the APIM. What was frustrating is the fact that the service tech at Windward Ford did not even go out of his way to look up my VIN to find out if there was any kind of field service action (FSA) for my vehicle. If he did, he would've discovered the APIM recall, perhaps ordered the part (since it was not on stock), and informed me to bring my car back when it came in. But it somehow felt like the service tech completely ignored that scenario (after the fact that I ask him if there's other recourse to my issue). I called the dealership immediately to inform them about the recall and why wasn't there any effort made to find out about it. (Other dealerships make it a routine to look up VINs when cars are brought in for service.) I spoke to on the phone John K but he blew me off and told me he'd call back the next day. 48 hours later, still waiting on the call back. Customer service at Windward Ford, in my opinion, was not par for the course. Ford is a respected brand and WW Ford did not give it justice, at least to this customer. For what it's worth, take this comment, improve this deficiency in your customer service model, then be consistent across the board. You have great reviews on other aspects of the business, but I know the management cares about growth of the company. Taking that extra step for the customers is always the right thing to do. More
